Items that transform their kitchen into their happy space will get your foodie friend all sorts of giddy. We’re all about pretty little home decor items that bring a little extra life and warmth into the kitchen, fancy additives that they may not usually treat themselves to, or items that appreciate the humor in their obsession (note item #4).

2016 Gift Guides // The Minimalist

2016_giftguide_minimalist

First off – we hope you all had a lovely Thanksgiving, ours were wonderful 🙂

And secondly, Thanksgiving has come and gone, and we’re jumping right to Christmas! While we still can’t believe the holiday season is actually upon us, we can’t pretend it isn’t happening anymore…time is ticking!

We’re starting with the minimalist gift guide – for that person in your life that wants, simple, meaningful, thoughtful gifts that err on the side of handmade, sustainably produced and/or detail oriented. The minimalist doesn’t want much, but they want quality items that they can rely on. Be willing to spend a little more on the minimalist in your life for a piece they will cherish.

2. Pendant Necklace
3. Beanie
4. Turtleneck Sweater
5. Tote Bag
6. Porcelain Travel Mug
7. Jewelry Stand
8. Copper Book Ends
9. Sea Salt Soap

Thanksgiving Cocktails

Happy {almost} Thanksgiving, loves! Since we’re both *not quite* adult enough to truly host a big Thanksgiving meal (apartment vs. house being the biggest factor), we aren’t usually asked to bring much – but we can make a mean cocktail, so that will be our contribution! Warm and fuzzy is our goal for a Thanksgiving cocktail, and these 4 drinks will do just that! Cheers to a wonderful visit with friends and family during the start to the holiday season. xo

4th of July Grub

gm_4thofJuly_2016.jpg

Our 4th of July is looking like it might be a nice sunny hot one this year, so we’re thinking grilling, light apps, and cool desserts! The best part about enjoying a day outside with your friends and family is sharing food, recipes and stories.

And don’t forget the drinks! Chill out with a Watermelon Cucumber Cooler between beers.

Ultimate Galentine’s Day Brunch

#Weliterallycannoteven handle how stoked we are for Galentine’s Day. It’s that oh-so-special time of year where we get to hug our lady friends, dance around the room to the Backstreet Boys, braid each other’s hair, and pillow fight. Because those are things that girls actually do, right? Maybe (probably not). BUT we likely will be gossiping about our dating lives while having tasty pink cocktails.

The internet is exploding with ideas for your gal-pal party, and we couldn’t help but share the best of it with you:

We Heart Waffles

gm_HeartWaffles_1.jpg

Nothing says “I love you” more than sharing a delicious brunch with your boo! Especially if it’s heart shaped, and can be eaten in bed. *Well, technically it could be, but we don’t recommend it 🙂

gm_HeartWaffles_3.jpggm_HeartWaffles_4.jpg

So the best part about these little cuties are that they’re super easy to make!

All you’ll need is a waffle iron & heart shaped cookie cutter (I used 2 sizes!) in addition to your ingredients.

Ingredients for Heart Shaped Waffles (ps – this is also our beloved pancake recipe, you just alter the amount of milk used – so easy!)

1 1/4 cup all purpose flour
2 tbsp sugar
2 tsp baking powerd
3/4 tsp salt
3 tbsp oil
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 cup milk (use 1 1/3 cups milk for pancakes)
1 egg slightly beaten

Topping:
Raspberry jam (we used my Aunt Grace’s homemade jam – perfectly zingy!)
Whipped Cream, any will do. If you don’t have any canned at home, whip up a batch!

Directions:
Mix first 4 ingredients, add oil, vanilla, milk & egg. Stir just until flour is moistened. Pour batter into hot, oiled waffle iron and cook until golden brown. Once out of the waffle maker, use cookie cutter to cut out hearts. Add raspberry jam & whip cream, and eat up with your lover and/or besties!

Christmas Eve Cocktails

With the hustle & bustle of Christmas going on around you, why not take a moment tomorrow evening to chill out with a friend or family member you haven’t seen in a while, and make them a festive cocktail? These four actually seem to embody almost all of the flavors that remind us of winter — citrus, rosemary, gingerbread, and peppermint — yes, please! So put on your party dresses, dust off your shakers, and have a very happy holiday!

In case you missed it, last year we rounded up four delicious looking cocktails as well. It’s becoming a bit of a new Christmas tradition 🙂 .

Holiday Host & Hostess Gifts

We’re finally at the short week we’ve all been waiting for! And we are so excited to have some down time with family & friends. Not sure about you all, but for the past few years we’ve been feeling more and more like adults. We can discuss careers with our families at get togethers (and actually be semi-knowledgable), eat brussel sprouts voluntarily, and choose to have breakfast and coffee with our family on Christmas morning before opening gifts. It’s a nice change of pace to feel a little more mellowed out right before the holiday, and not anxiety-ridden about not falling asleep or else Santa won’t come.

But if there’s one thing that adults do for one another, it’s bring a gift for your hostess or host. It’s makes that person feel appreciated and special, and shows that you aren’t just there for the free food 🙂 And while a nice bottle of wine or beer will always be a wonderful gift, we’re looking at some nontraditional gifts for this holiday season. Here’s some things we’ve been eyeing that we know our party-throwing pals would appreciate:

pines2

For those of you who celebrate Christmas like us, we’re struggling a little to fully get into the spirt this year. For some reason it’s just not feeling like the holiday season! It probably doesn’t help that yesterday was 60 degrees and sunny… usually we’ve already busted out our wool socks and scarves! We’re hoping that by listening to a little holiday music it’ll get us more excited and ready to drink that nog and deck them halls.
