Happy Weekend!

Happy Friday, loves. How has everyone’s week been? Has your personal clock settled into daylight savings yet? While I really don’t look forward to the darker evenings, I will admit that waking up to a brighter morning has been nice. I’ve been rising before my alarm on most mornings, which is so much more pleasant than the sound of an alarm. It also helps me to get a little more done earlier in the day on the weekends. I’m going to try to get to a morning spin class tomorrow. Considering I much prefer working out in the evenings, we’ll see how that goes! Hope you all have a beautiful weekend ahead of you. See you on Monday!

Hello dearies — what’s everyone up to this weekend? Christa and I have been feeling pretty tangled in a million different webs these days, and can’t help but look forward to catching on up doing things that settle us back into ourselves. I personally would love to go to yoga and perhaps bake something, two things that always help me in feeling centered and grounded. Hope you all have beautiful weekends, see you on Monday!

cct // We as bloggers really know this is true about Instagram & photography in general, but it’s always nice to remind ourselves that there are some days that you can fake it, and some days that it’s ok that you can’t (let’s just live in the moment a little more, right?).

rkv // The upcoming sweater weather also calls for a new fall book list, yay!

cct // I’m traveling to California for 6 days in early October and encountering 2 extremes – blog hang out at the Ace Hotel, and hiking in Joshua Tree – so I am welcoming these tips & tricks on packing a suitcase well. Btw, I’m only taking a carry on rolling suitcase and a tote – eek!

rkv // Oh right, Halloween is also around the corner, and this is adorable

cct // I’m always interested in seeing how other bloggers do their hair! I’ve been eying a curling wand vs a clamping curling iron, and I think it’s time! Also the tip of adding a little pomade to your ends is genius.

Father’s Day 2015

Why are Dads so difficult to shop for?? They’re such simple people with simple desires, and that makes it tough to find them a good gift. The key for Dad is getting him something that he’ll actually use, hence all of the food related items. Then there’s also the practical items, like the grill thermometer and stretching band (my Pop is always complaining about his hamstrings and calves), and of course personal items for things that strike his interest, like movies and books. Hope our finds help to inspire you in your gift hunt before Sunday!

Hello loves — hope you all had stress-free weeks and have exciting weekend plans ahead of you, even if that excitement is in couch form. What are you all up to? Christa and I are both moving out of our current apartments in the near future, so we’ll likely each be doing lots and cleaning and packing, which can be refreshing, especially in early spring — cheers to fresh starts!

cct // Beautiful flower wall hangings that play on animal head trophies

rkv // Eating seasonally is one of my favorite ways to feel strong and healthy, so I was amped to see these detox recipes for spring

cct // Are you or someone you know colorblind? As someone who relies on color every day, this Valspar project is so touching! (hint – just go to the last page and watch the video!)

rkv // A chart for removing any stain, ever

cct // Curtis & I are moving May 1st (yay!) and Cupcake & Cashmere’s 10 House Rules are pretty great!

rkv // We bloggers sure do love us some Trader Joe’s

cct // I love finding new books to read! These all sound promising! Do you have any to recommend?

rkv // Just your average breakfast cereal fan-art

Today’s Happy Weekend image is probably the most fun one we’ve posted – and while it might seem a little odd since the 1st day of spring is today – it’s also the first time Reg and I have hit the slopes together in YEARS. Like the last time we skied & snowboarded together might have been junior high! So when I saw this awesome image, I realized it was perfect for today. Anyway – enjoy this crazy spring snow shower if you’re in the North East, and keep an eye out for some ski bunny instagrams 😉

Wild Outfit Pairing

It took me about a year to finally read Wild by Cheryl Strayed after I had decided I wanted to read it. Once it became a New York Times best seller & apart of Oprah’s Book Club, it was checked out of every library within driving distance…and FINALLY I got my hands on it! I loved it, and after talking to many friends who have recently read it, it was evident how this story really makes you think about your own life. With that being said, you don’t need to do a solo-hike into some of the hardest hiking trails in the country just to find yourself, but this story can help put things into perspective.

Cheryl, a 26 year old struggling with the untimely death of her mother, issues with drugs, and the inevitable failure of her marriage, decides to get out of Minnesota. With no backpacking experience and a broken heart, Cheryl starts on her solo journey on the Pacific Crest Trail from the Mojave Desert to the boarder of Washington State to find herself. With where to settle up in the air, Portland Oregon will do for now.

*I know that might be a short description, but the joys and hardships in the book are better described by Cheryl herself – get reading!

Although the trail and your past are behind you, somethings never die – like your general sense of wanting to wear comfy clothes. This tie dye shirt is the perfect combo of lived in, slinky, and a tad bit hippie. Your Bob Marley shirt might not be around anymore, but this will do. You’re done with sports bras for good and love the feeling of slipping into something sexier like this lacy black bra. And those jeans. They may seem like regular jeans to everyone else, but after months of gym shorts – hip hugging jeans are damn sexy. The idea of having a purse seems so foreign after barely having any money to store and always having a MASSIVE pack on your back. But you can’t give up that feeling, so a lightweight leather backpack will be the perfect alternative. After having many issues with shoes throughout your trip, a new pair of dependable footwear/boots will give tribute to your travels. And lastly, another nod to Portland – the parka. This weather might seem mild compared to Minnesota, but a light pink jacket will help add some girl factor back into your life.

The “Guy in your life” Gift Guide

Whether it be a boyfriend, guy friend, or that guy you’ve been texting (a lot), we’ve got you covered. We’ve got a range of gifts for the guy who keeps ya smilin’.

gm_GuyInYourLife_GiftGuide

Cutting Board // This gift might be a selfish one… this handcrafted cherry wood cutting board is so stylish and handy.. you’ll both be using it! Give him this and set a romantic date night where you can both show off your cooking skills.

Wool Sweater // LL Bean’s lifetime warranty makes it a pretty awesome option for a gift. If the materials ever start wearing down, the company fully refunds your purchase, which is a pretty rare and honest quality for a company these days. This crew neck sweater is classic, warm, and chunky – a recipe for love.

Americana Matches // Most people our age have a bundle of miss-matched matches from bars and restaurants they’ve been to. Although these can hold memories and stories, these matches he can keep on display.

Green Moss Candle // So now he has these cool matches and nothing to light! Although I’m sure you’ll be stealing them to light your amazing girly-smelling candles, give him a chance to light something you’ll both like that doesn’t smell like flowers and cookies. {image via}

Swiss Army Knife // Most of the guys in my life carry a Swiss Army knife at all times, and let me tell you…it is CONVENIENT. This one has some character with it’s cool wood paneling, and I think he’ll be pretty excited to realize how handy these are.

The Drunken Botanist // Most of the guys we know are whiskey guys (and we’re cool with that), but let him learn about how that and all sorts of other cocktails are made from plants all over the world. *And then borrow it, because this book sounds awesome!

All Natural Beard Toner // Beards are hot right now, and we LOVE them. Help his beard smell extra nice and feel extra soft with this all natural beard toner.

City Glasses // We have quite a few guys in our lives that have moved all over the country. Let them reminisce with these gorgeous personalized city glasses. These will make anyone feel at home.

Field Notes 3 Pack // This 3 pack has all of the options he’ll ever need! They’re basic looking (not too girly), compact, and with the options for graph, lined and plain pages he’ll have all of this bases covered. *Side note, Christa met Aaron Draplin, the designer and creator behind Field Notes, and he is one bad ass dude. {image via}

Portable Speakers // This blue-tooth speaker is convenient and has some pretty decent sound quality for it’s compact size and low price. We’ve been in far too many group-hang out situations where we’ve said “um.. does anyone have portable speakers??”.. Now someone finally will!

Clash Vinyl // Let me tell you, I have this album on vinyl, and I feel pretty badass every time I listen to it. Additionally, every dude who has ever looked at my collection has said “OMG you have this album?!”.. So in summation, you should buy this for a guy in your life.

JCrew Hat // Basically the hat version of the above crew neck sweater – toasty, classic, and he’ll look very cute in it (in a sexy-kind-of way, not a kitten-kind-of way). *Right now JCrew is offering 30% off with code GIFTNOW
