Now that we’re all (hopefully) getting a little summer color/glow on our faces, we usually feel the need to wear a little less make up – and doesn’t it feel good! But there are still days we want to add a little flair without going overboard, and the perfect way to do that is to get your hair out of your face & sass up those lips. Go easy on the eye make up and accessories, and you’ll feel fresh and ready to go. We’re loving these bright lip colors paired with headbands — go casual, hip, or glam.
As a part-time Madewell employee for the last 2 1/2 years, I figured it was about time I did a little feature on them! This company is truly a great one to work for – not only is it a beautiful brand aesthetically, but the environment is equally charming. When you’re in the store and we ask if we can help you find anything, we genuinely mean it. We want to help you find something trendy and comfortable, to make you look like the Parisian goddess we all long to be.

When we came across this image, we found it perfect to replicate since it can so easily transition from the office hours to happy hour. So now that things have officially warmed up in the New England, we’ve been flashing our ankles like crazy, and poppy red stilettos are a perfectly saucy way to do so. Keep the heat turned up with a bright lip, but tone it down with some jeans and a flowy blouse, plus neutral accessories.
Hope you’re all having a great start to your week!
Valentine’s Day can cover so many different scenarios…dating someone, sort of dating someone, not dating someone…but don’t let any of those stop you from dressing cute for whatever your situation. Whether it’s a date night, a night at home, drinks with girl friends, or a date with your couch, Valentine’s Day/Night is only as good as you make it! We’ve sort of stopped giving into the idea of what you’re “supposed” to do or wear on this holiday, and have embraced the idea of feeling comfortable and confident while you celebrate the love in your life (even if that love is yourself!).
Temps are still in the teens here in New England, but if things ever warm up a bit, I’d love to take a break from my snow boots and throw on some sneakers for a casual-cool look. I don’t think I could ever be as brave as these chicks and not wear socks, but I’d definitely throw on a patterned pair of cotton ones to make it winter appropriate.
Since Christa’s going to Italy in a few months, she mentioned that she’ll be stealing some of these looks so that she can be cute and comfortable while walking around. Here are some inexpensive styles she can choose from:

December is the month of holiday parties. Weekend after weekend there is something going on (not that we’re complaining)! With a mix of cocktail parties, work parties, pot lucks and everything in between we found 2 outfits that will cover them all.
This casual look is sophisticated but still fun – perfect for a work gathering or potluck. The silk top pairs well with pretty much anything, so it’s worth the investment, and the color is perfect for fall and winter. The bright cords will make this outfit more playful, and flats keep it casual and easy to get around. Side note: I own these flats and they might be the most complimented item of footwear I own. And they’re comfy too! Anyway, since this outfit is very simple, play up the clutch and/or jewelery. We went with arm candy, but it could easily handle a chunky necklace instead.
The glam look uses this dress as the centerpiece. This is definitely more for the cocktail party or fancy dinner, but it’s still work appropriate and you’ll feel very classy in it. We’ve targeted this look more towards the icy blues and greys that are popular at the moment, but it could easily be toned down with more navy to go for something more monochromatic. And again since this dress speaks for itself, we kept it pretty bare with the jewelry, but if you skipped the belt you could add a really blingy necklace.

My family celebrates Thanksgiving in a very old, very cold house. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining (I love it), but when it comes to outfits, I can’t go all out. I have learned how to dress cute and cozy, but when I see all of the posts and pictures of the holiday glam look, I get a little jealous. So today I present to you 2 outfits, my practical casual look and my wishful thinking glam look. I might have to steal that glam look for Christmas or a holiday party…
My casual look is a jumble of textures, and that’s why I love it! The cozy sweater and half leather leggings will allow for over eating (my fav) while the hat and boots will make you feel like you’re not in your pjs when you get some fresh air and walk off a bit of food. And when you’re back, lounge around in those super chunky socks- no need for slippers!
My glam look makes me shiver thinking about wearing tights where I’m going, but nonetheless, I would love to wear it to a restaurant or modern (normal) house. The sparkle on top and bottom bring attention, but are still classy and family appropriate. The skirt- also stretchy and overeating ready- allow for a dressed up feel, while the opaque tights feel more like leggings so you don’t freeze in this chilly New England cold!
