Thanksgiving Cocktails

Happy {almost} Thanksgiving, loves! Since we’re both *not quite* adult enough to truly host a big Thanksgiving meal (apartment vs. house being the biggest factor), we aren’t usually asked to bring much – but we can make a mean cocktail, so that will be our contribution! Warm and fuzzy is our goal for a Thanksgiving cocktail, and these 4 drinks will do just that! Cheers to a wonderful visit with friends and family during the start to the holiday season. xo

Wowie, how is it already mid September?! The days just fly by! Christa has another busy weekend, with her sold out CADC Aaron Draplin event that she’s been waiting months for! And Reg is taking it easy spending time with a couple of friends who have had a rough go at things lately, unwinding and consoling with morning brunch and evening veno.

Have a great weekend, all!

Peach Bellini

gm_PeachBellini_6

This upcoming weekend marks the unofficial transition to Fall (Labor Day), but let’s use it to stay summery instead – because Fall isn’t technically until September 22nd! We’re not quite ready to pack away the sandals and bathing suits just yet (especially because the weather in New England is crazy unpredictable).

With an extra day off on Monday, grab some sparkling wine & peach purée (or in our case, the delicious Powell & Mahoney Beach Bellini mix) and stay summery for a couple more days 🙂

gm_PeachBellinigm_PeachBellini_1gm_PeachBellini_2gm_PeachBellini_3

Instructions:
01. Pop bottle of sparkling wine! We loved our bottle of Schlumberger Grüner Vetliner Brut  from Niche Import Co.
02. Pour sparkling wine into glass
03. Top off with peach purée (we love the Powell & Mahoney Peach Bellini Mix!)
04. Garnish however you see fit! Raspberries or lemon and orange peels are great toppers.
05. Enjoy 🙂

Special thanks to Niche Import Co. for the delicious Schlumberger Grüner Vetliner Brut & to Treasures Old Lyme for the beautiful glasses.

August Moodboard

gm_August_MoodBoard

These summer months just fly by don’t they?! We’re pretty excited about August because we’ll be meeting up with our closest friends for our annual Old Lyme long weekend away (last seen here & here).

August to us is fun, quirky, and full of ice cream, tacos and cocktails, hehe. Our moodboard is full of bold, bright statement images and we’re trying to live similarly – bold & bright 😉

It’s a hot one, guys, but it’s Friday! We’re trying to stay cool & keep our heads up after another terrible world tragedy – ❤ sending love to France.

Christa had family in from Germany (hi Alicia & Timm :)) yesterday so she & Curtis showed them around New Haven & Hartford, with a stop at Flatbread (duh). Reg has been busy busy at work, and we’re all ready for a loungey weekend. Stay cool and give hugs to your loved ones. xo G&M

So many mixed emotions this weekend! Tonight Reg will be bringing one of her very good friends to the airport to move back to England (don’t go!!), which will be a very heart wrenching process, but then is immediately following it with a weekend of girl fun time with Christa. We’ll be flea-marketing all day tomorrow at Brimfield, with fun photo shoots on Sunday.

What do you guys have a going on? Is it as much as an emotional roller coaster as ours?

Have a great week ended, loves

Jessica Rose Cocktail

If you remember our Birch & Bourbon post, you’ll remember Hartford Flavor Company! Shortly after that post, I attended a CADC & HFCo. happy hour at their Hartford shop and was wowed while tasting other flavors and learning about how they make their liqueurs. Both Curtis and I fell immediately in love with the rose flavor and knew we needed a bottle at home. And when we tried the Jessica Rose cocktail, it was game-over.

This past weekend we celebrated my Oma’s 80th birthday by hosting my Mom’s side of the family for dinner and dessert before going to a show at Hartford Stage. We decided to kick off the evening with a light cocktail – this lovely rose drink. It was a hit, and the pink-orange color looked so pretty with my table cloth 🙂

Recipe: The Jessica Rose, adapted from Hartford Flavor Company

1 oz. Wild Moon Rose Liqueur
1 oz. vodka (I used Prairie)
2.5 oz Lemonade
Squeeze of fresh lemon (I used Meyer lemons)
Lemon garnish

Mix together in a cocktail shaker, pour and enjoy!

Christmas Eve Cocktails

With the hustle & bustle of Christmas going on around you, why not take a moment tomorrow evening to chill out with a friend or family member you haven’t seen in a while, and make them a festive cocktail? These four actually seem to embody almost all of the flavors that remind us of winter — citrus, rosemary, gingerbread, and peppermint — yes, please! So put on your party dresses, dust off your shakers, and have a very happy holiday!

In case you missed it, last year we rounded up four delicious looking cocktails as well. It’s becoming a bit of a new Christmas tradition 🙂 .

Happy Weekend!

Happy Friday, all! Hope all of your weeks are winding down nicely, and you can all take the next couple of days to restore. I for one (Reg) have been feeling a little wrung-out lately, and am really looking forward to bringing myself back up to speed. I’m hoping to just hang in and catch up with friends, maybe do a little cleaning/organizing, and perhaps some window shopping here & there. Have a lovely weekend, see ya on Monday!

How pretty are those puppies up there? We want ourselves some figgy fizziness and we want it now. What are you guys up to this weekend? Christa will be traveling in Cali with her bae, while I’ll be supporting my recent addiction to American Horror Story. There’s also the possibility of taking a day trip with my roomies on Sunday to check out the fall foliage. We aren’t sure where yet, but I’ll keep ya posted. Have a beautiful weekend, all!
