With the temperature dropping, we’re looking to cozy up our bedrooms! When Crane & Canopy asked us how we how we prep our bedrooms for fall, we wanted to share our tips and tricks!

01. Change up your bedding.
Flannel, fleece, velvet – add all of the texture to our bed.

02. And then add blankets!
Plaid, chunky knit, wool, faux fur – cozy up with your boo and watch a movie in bed!

03. Light your most comforting candle.
Whether it’s sweet like oatmeal cookie or vanilla, or musky like campfire and pine, the comforting smell and beautiful glow of your favorite candle will make you want to spend all of your free time in your bedroom.

04. Cozy up your reading nook.
Apply everything we just said to your comfy little reading corner 🙂

05. Bring fall textures/accessories into your bedroom.
Wood trays for accessories (or morning coffee!), pine cones, green garlands – go as simple or as complex as you’d like! Maybe even add an adorable mini pumpkin to your dresser.

For the Love of Cafés

We’re probably all feeling the same way these days when it comes to cozy-ing up on the weekends and being shamelessly mellowed out. Something about the middle of January just does that to us, huh? Lately all we’ve been wanting to do is curl up at local cafés, kindle in hand, latte on the table, and just unwind. How divine to these spaces look? Makes you want to design a little corner/oasis right in your apartment, doesn’t it?

We’re hoping that this New England snow storm is just mild enough that we can still meet up in Boston, but wintery enough that we can wander out and search for a cozy café like these…

And if you’re looking for some local cozy love – check out these lovely cafés in the Hartford area & Brookline/Boston…

In Conn., Dom’s Coffee, J.Rene Coffee Roasters, Sarah’s Coffee House, Tisane & Hartford Baking Company

In Boston, Tatte, Pavement, Thinking Cup & Caffé Nero

Happy Weekend!

I mean, it doesn’t really get much more Halloween-y than a classic Hitchcock scream, amiright? We’re big fans of this holiday around these parts — there’s just something so fun about listening to eerie surf-rock, watching spooky flicks, getting all dressed up, and eating so much candy that you feel like a kid again. Are you guys getting into the spirit? We wanna know what your costumes are! Here’s to a bitchin’ Halloween weekend, and let’s all hope no one gets stabbed in the shower like that chick up there *points up*. Too much?? 🙂

So sadly Joaquin has rained out our plans to go on a hike in New Hampshire this weekend, but we’re still looking forward to a weekend of cozying up on these chilly days. We’re thinking the three b’s — blankies, baking, and beers. Hope you all have an equally relaxing next couple of days!

Love Want Need // Chunky Sweaters & Winter Boots

Remember last week when we mentioned a mild winter? Well we were just kidding. And to our fellow New Englanders, we apologize for jinxing you. We were hit pretty hard by Juno yesterday in both Boston and Hartford, but we ain’t complainin’ (snow dayyy!). SO all of those retailers with their Spring 2015 lines coming out… slow your roll, okay? Because it’s still chilly and slushy around these parts, and we need some gear to get us through it all. Hail to the chunky sweater and waterproof boot!

If you can’t tell, this season we’re kind of very into neutrals — specifically greys and blacks.  It’s just so easy to match them, and when they’re all a great texture, you can look really pulled together. This little number is especially awesome, because it involves stretchy pants and sneakers — two staples for weekend daytime wear. And because these leggings are coated, with a quick change of the shoes you have your Saturday dinner outfit all ready to go. This wool-blend coat will keep you warm from the winter chill, and the beaded-tassel necklace keeps you on trend.

Hallelujah, it’s big chunky scarf season. Pretty much the greatest thing about a brisk day, is the fact that we can walk around with blankets draped around our necks. Cathy from Poor Little It Girl made this cozy look beyond adorable, with some metallic flats and tight black skinnies. We wish we could make the plaid-on-plaid work the way she did, but let’s be real, that’s no easy feat, so we went with a mossy solid pullover.

Fall Style ’14 // Gap

We’re not quite ready for fall, but alas, we have succumbed to the fashion world. Gap is one of the many brands who is on point this upcoming season — with slouchy fits, warm neutrals, and lots of texture. It’s hard to say so-long to summer, but the prospect of trendy layers makes the transition a little smoother.

Patio Envy

Since we both grew up with lush backyards and now live in cities, we are always on the lookout for great outdoor space. Unfortunately neither of us has any yet, but that’s ok – we can invite ourselves over to peoples houses (porches/patios/yards) whenever possible and browse pinterest until we cool down in the AC. Someday though…someday…

If you’re reading this and you have a lovely outdoor space to retreat to – we are extremely jealous (use these pics as decorating inspiration), and if you are in the same boat as us, check these out and pretend you’re there!
