Happy Weekend!

Happy Friday, loves. How has everyone’s week been? Has your personal clock settled into daylight savings yet? While I really don’t look forward to the darker evenings, I will admit that waking up to a brighter morning has been nice. I’ve been rising before my alarm on most mornings, which is so much more pleasant than the sound of an alarm. It also helps me to get a little more done earlier in the day on the weekends. I’m going to try to get to a morning spin class tomorrow. Considering I much prefer working out in the evenings, we’ll see how that goes! Hope you all have a beautiful weekend ahead of you. New Years Resolutions

gm_2014 Resolutions can be tough to take seriously when you set the bar too high. This year we tried setting some realistic goals that we always find ourselves wanting to improve on.

1 // Be more creative

We got a head start with this one this year when we made our blog. We were dying for a way to vent our creative energy by doing something fun and carefree together. It’s been a big motivator to do a lot of projects we’ve had on our lists but never set the time for, as well as a way to step outside of our comfort zones with ideas we may have been too nervous to pursue in the past. We’re planning on picking up old hobbies and gaining new ones for 2014.

Reading calms your nerves and allows you to unwind while removing yourself from the daily bustle we deal with. This year we want to make a point of regularly putting our phones and computers in one room, and ourselves and a book in another. Cuddle up with some cocoa and a blanket and take it easy.

3 // Stress less

Speaking of unwinding from daily bustle…we’re actively making a point in 2014 to stress less all together. Becoming an adult has proved to be pretty difficult, and our bodies and minds are taking a toll. Whenever we find ourselves tense this year, try to remember that in the grand scheme of things, this little bump is most likely a microscopic blip on the radar.

4 // Wear more sunscreen

So important yet so underutilized! This is the only skin we have, and it’s our responsibility to be kind to it. We’ll thank ourselves years from now when we’re still healthy and supple.

5 // Travel more

This can be tough when we find ourselves in financial pickles, but it doesn’t need to be an extravagant get away in order to be worthwhile. This past summer, we went camping with a friend to Cape Cod. We had all grown up in New England, yet only 1 of the 3 of us had ever been! That trip was a hot mess, and totally worth it. We also had one of the most amazing things we had ever eaten…a hot buttered lobster roll that had been caught that morning. If you’re ever in P-town, get one here.

6 // Stay in better touch with family and old friends

There have been some major life changes going on around here, and sometimes it can be really difficult to keep in touch with the people you love. This year we want to reach out more, try to let go of grudges, and just become stronger with communication overall.

Six resolutions might seem like a lot, but these points are just guidelines for things we should have been doing all along…and even if we only briefly touch some of these we’ll be happy! We hope your resolutions are as exciting and attainable as ours, and 2014 is your best year yet!
