Happy Weekend!

Hello, dearies — hope you all had a lovely week, and have an even lovelier couple of days ahead of you. We’re stunned that next week is Thanksgiving. How did that happen??? It feels like as we get older, time goes by so much quicker. Are any of you all feeling similarly?

This past week our small home town in CT experienced some devastating news about a young mother, a member of our graduating class, who suddenly passed. In combination of learning this, of the troubling news in Paris, as well as world-wide current events  — it’s definitely resulting in some self-reflection. This week we’re feeling especially grateful for our friends, family, and the wonderful community that we were raised in.

While we have mushy hearts this week, we also still have our care-free nature about us. We’ve rounded up our weekly links for you all, hope you enjoy, and we’ll see you on Monday 🙂

Ello! How’s everyone’s week been? Mine somehow became much busier than anticipated,   but that’s not always such a terrible thing, because it flew by. I get to head home to Connecticut tonight so I can spend the weekend with the family for Mother’s Day. Our family tradition for this holiday is to do weeding in the yard for Mom (leave to to my mother to put us through manual labor!), and eat a lot. We’ll be going to our old-time family favorite Italian restaurant for lunch with my Dad, Sister and Brother-in-law on Sunday, so it should be a well-rounded time.

Hope you all have the chance to get out there are appreciate any mother in your lives – have a great weekend everyone!

PS. Christa will finally be back on Monday – yayy!

Although we’re partial to handmade cards, we get super excited for handmade-by-someone-else cards as well. When we saw the fun prints, post cards and posters over at Hammerpress we knew we had found a winner. (We also love their Kansas City, MO location – we both have MO/KS/midwest family!) Take a look at these beautifully designed and printed pieces, we want them all!

New Years Resolutions

gm_2014 Resolutions can be tough to take seriously when you set the bar too high. This year we tried setting some realistic goals that we always find ourselves wanting to improve on.

1 // Be more creative

We got a head start with this one this year when we made our blog. We were dying for a way to vent our creative energy by doing something fun and carefree together. It’s been a big motivator to do a lot of projects we’ve had on our lists but never set the time for, as well as a way to step outside of our comfort zones with ideas we may have been too nervous to pursue in the past. We’re planning on picking up old hobbies and gaining new ones for 2014.

// Read more often

Reading calms your nerves and allows you to unwind while removing yourself from the daily bustle we deal with. This year we want to make a point of regularly putting our phones and computers in one room, and ourselves and a book in another. Cuddle up with some cocoa and a blanket and take it easy.

3 // Stress less

Speaking of unwinding from daily bustle…we’re actively making a point in 2014 to stress less all together. Becoming an adult has proved to be pretty difficult, and our bodies and minds are taking a toll. Whenever we find ourselves tense this year, try to remember that in the grand scheme of things, this little bump is most likely a microscopic blip on the radar.

4 // Wear more sunscreen

So important yet so underutilized! This is the only skin we have, and it’s our responsibility to be kind to it. We’ll thank ourselves years from now when we’re still healthy and supple.

5 // Travel more

This can be tough when we find ourselves in financial pickles, but it doesn’t need to be an extravagant get away in order to be worthwhile. This past summer, we went camping with a friend to Cape Cod. We had all grown up in New England, yet only 1 of the 3 of us had ever been! That trip was a hot mess, and totally worth it. We also had one of the most amazing things we had ever eaten…a hot buttered lobster roll that had been caught that morning. If you’re ever in P-town, get one here.

6 // Stay in better touch with family and old friends

There have been some major life changes going on around here, and sometimes it can be really difficult to keep in touch with the people you love. This year we want to reach out more, try to let go of grudges, and just become stronger with communication overall.

Six resolutions might seem like a lot, but these points are just guidelines for things we should have been doing all along…and even if we only briefly touch some of these we’ll be happy! We hope your resolutions are as exciting and attainable as ours, and 2014 is your best year yet!

*ps – I saw this list of the top 10 best designed Champagnes & Sparkling Wine bottles featured on The Dieline (a packaging design website) to celebrate the New Year and had to share! Drink up!
