The Thanksgiving countdown starts today! What are you guys wearing? Reg will be hosting her family in Boston, so a normal, cute outfit can happen, while Christa will be up in New Hampshire at the Farm, so comfort/warmth will win over style.

Olivia’s festive look is perfect for Thanksgiving – mixing deep hues and trendy textiles like pleats, leather and metallics. A cozy but chic sweater mixed with a fun midi skirt and your favorite booties will keep you feeling cute but comfy all night long! Which is important for a holiday centered around eating…

Loving Now // Embroidery

Is everyone else as into the embroidery craze as we are?! It’s such an interesting mixture of femininity, folk and tradition that really speaks to us as creatives. Off to the store – or thrift store? or maybe even the craft store…

Loving Now // Frayed Jeans

Guys, it’s finally cooled down enough for jeans, in fact it’s been *perfect* jean weather recently! Our newest jean love is frayed bottom jeans. Have you been seeing them around? We’re seeing them in stores all over the place (Loft, Urban, Nordstrom, Madewell) but did you know they’re pretty easy to make on your own?! Christa chopped a pair of jeans that were a bit too long recently and loves the look! Check out ways to style our new favorite trend…

Magical Pink Wall

Happy hump day, friends! We’re trying to brighten up this gloomy day with fun walls! If you’re in the Hartford area, you should check out these cheery murals (on the side of the road on Pope Park Highway) – there are green, purple and blue ones too!

With the weather finally cooling down, it was the perfect day to break out the clogs and a long cozy sweater. To be honest, this outfit is pretty much my uniform in the fall! I love classic neutrals with some gold jewelry and a fun shoe.

I was most excited about my DIY necklace though! I grabbed some thin leather from Michaels and tied myself a little chocker. Thinking about doing a DIY post with a couple variations of what you can do with the leather strips! Stay tuned!

Trashion Fashion Show

NoRaCupcake_TrashionFashion

Happy Monday! So, a few weekends ago I was able to be apart of an amazing Hartford event, Trashion Fashion, and I couldn’t wait to share my experience and the fantastic designs with you all! Amy, founder and previous neighbor has been putting on this exciting event for 5 years now, and I can’t believe this is the 1st I’ve been to it/been apart of it!

“Trashion Fashion is on a mission to contribute to a global reduction of waste through creative solutions.”

I was chosen last minute (only 1 week away from the show), to model the gorgeous commissioned NoRa Cupcake dress, one of the sponsors for the event. It was designed by Zoe Grinfeld, an up and coming fashion designer and high school senior who recently won Project Runway: Threads, who has been making clothing out of recycled materials for quite awhile now.

I arrived bright and early (7am, ugh) at Hartford City Hall where the event was taking place, and got my hair and make up done. I hadn’t seen my dress at this point and was really excited to see how everything was going to unfold. I also didn’t know until I got there, that my make up was going to be an “elevated look” meaning I was getting a little more done-up than some of the other models. I got my hair done by the amazing Rafael from La Bella Chateau, and my make up done by the super talented ladies at Tainted. Kat took over and killed it with the fantastic neon pink eye shadow, decorative black painted elements and sprinkle eyebrows (and shoulders!).

These teams did hair and make up for 70 (!!) models and we took over Hartford City Hall with fittings, runway walk training, photoshoots and more. It was such a unique and amazing experience.

But, without further ado – let’s check out some of the fantastic looks that Curtis was able to capture on the runway!

Love Want Need // Statement Earrings & Pumps

The amount of holiday parties we are going to this year is bonkers, guys! Are you feeling the same way?? While we’re all about a funky party dress, we’re also looking to spice up a LBD or a sleek jumpsuit with statement earrings and killer heels. We’re into the big chunky trend right now, and clearly are not fearing color!

Blanket scarves are definitely having a moment right now. And why shouldn’t they? I think we can all agree that when we leave the house and it’s in the 30s, feeling like you’re wrapped up in a giant blankie brings a tremendous amount of comfort. The key to not looking like Lenny Kravtiz when you wear this style, is to know your limits. Keep proportions, fabric, and texture in mind. Don’t forget that it is in fact a scarf, you are in public, and not on your couch watching Netflix. To balance it out, pair it with a petite cross-body and skinnies, to keep your frame looking lean and polished.

Summer-End Sales

Pretty much the only thing okay about summer ending, is the fact that every store puts all of their summer goodies on super sale. We’re personally big fans of stocking up on items at the end of the season, because by the time you pull it out for next year, it’s like new! Check out some of our favorite items form around the web:

Happy Weekend!

gm_HappyWeekend{image via}

Did you guys know that tomorrow is National Rosé Day?? We’re awfully excited, because nothing says “I’m a fancy person enjoying this delightful weather” quite the way a nice cold crisp glass of rosé does. Enjoy, and have a great weekend, everyone!

cct // These ladies look gorgeous without makeup, and it’s great to hear what they have to say about it!

rkv // The actual Japanese dishes for all of those emojis you’ve always wondered about.

cct // As mentioned earlier, tomorrow is National Rosé day (yay!), and these dry Rosé pairings look delish!

rkv // 5 ways to stay balanced when you’re crazy busy

cct // Speaking of makeup, did you guys see this inspiring video called The Power of Makeup?

rkv // So simple, yet so wonderful sounding — the watermelon paloma

cct // So apparently the Hipster phase is dead, and the next despised group of people sounds a little too familiar…it’s the “I want to be creative and fulfilled in my job, even if it means taking a pay cut” person. You fall into this category if you: really want to go to Austin soon because you heard it’s incredible, love Seinfeld even though it went off the air when you were 16, and you have thousands of Instagram followers, but almost no Twitter followers. YUP sounds about right…

rkv // I may have gotten a little carried away with Loft’s additional 40% off of sale styles
