Spring Meal Inspiration

How is it that our weekends are filling up so fast?? Spring has sprung, and we’re finding ourselves attending brunches, dinners and all sorts of food related events (not complaining!) It’s been inspiring us to throw our own little gathering, and we’re smitten with these lovely dishes (and drinks, of course!)

We’ve collected some springy-faves from around the web that make our mouth water. *Take note these are not intended to be served all together… that would be some of the most random flavor complexity you could ever go for. This is mainly to get a sense of what’s out there, and how to keep your palette interested this season!

Happy happy Friday, wonderful people! What a week! Christa was wrapping things up for some time off from work next week, with a trip (actually many little trips) to New Hampshire, Denver and Old Lyme (woo!), and Reg’s been keeping busy with a hectic work week, sprinkled with social gatherings of friends. What are you all up to this weekend? Hope it’s a good one!

National Whiskey Sour Day!

gm_WhiskeySourDay

Happy Monday, and happy National Whiskey Sour Day!

Clearly our heads are still sort of in weekend mode… but we couldn’t resist doing a feature on this classic cocktail for it’s birthday! If you like your drinks savory and zingy, this is a great one to try.

The recipe we’ve decided to feature for you {top left image} has a slight spin on the traditional sour, with an egg-white additive. If you’ve never had egg in your drink before, you really should! You don’t taste a thing (I swear!), and it adds a frothy smoothness that delights the palette.

If this style of sour isn’t for you, then check out the other ones above! {clockwise from top right: 1 // 2 // 3}

So when you get home this evening, why not go all out? Get your shaker, turn on Mad Men, and beat those Monday blues.

Without further ado, the Whiskey Sour:

Ingredients: (serves 1)

// 2 ounces whiskey (bourbon or rye)

// 3/4 ounces simple syrup (1:1 ratio sugar:water)

// 3/4 ounces lemon juice

// 1 egg white

To Make:

Combine all ingredients in your shaker and mix very well (strongly, for at least 10 seconds). Add ice to your shaker, and shake normally. Strain over ice, and drink up!
