Summer is officially here, people! We’ve had some ups and downs with the weather, but I think we’re finally feelin the heat. With this summer weather upon us, we’re starting to shape up our summer wardrobe. We’re always looking to other stylish bloggers for their warm weather looks (one of our favorite pinterest boards is our summer style board), and the ladies over at A Piece of Toast know how to style summer heat far better than us (Texas heat is not joke!). We’re all about rocking a good bandana and jean jacket, and this unique layered look is perfect for the indoor/outdoor struggles of the office. Happy copying 🙂
The amount of holiday parties we are going to this year is bonkers, guys! Are you feeling the same way?? While we’re all about a funky party dress, we’re also looking to spice up a LBD or a sleek jumpsuit with statement earrings and killer heels. We’re into the big chunky trend right now, and clearly are not fearing color!
Blanket scarves are definitely having a moment right now. And why shouldn’t they? I think we can all agree that when we leave the house and it’s in the 30s, feeling like you’re wrapped up in a giant blankie brings a tremendous amount of comfort. The key to not looking like Lenny Kravtiz when you wear this style, is to know your limits. Keep proportions, fabric, and texture in mind. Don’t forget that it is in fact a scarf, you are in public, and not on your couch watching Netflix. To balance it out, pair it with a petite cross-body and skinnies, to keep your frame looking lean and polished.
Yayyyy it’s crazy cropped high-waisted patterned pant season! Get wild, ladies. Bust out those ankles and make those weird trousers that you’ve always loved work. The above look is great because it combines the comfort of a flouncy chambray with the a little bit of edge through the funky pants and height in the shoes. The trees are blooming, and so is our love of a swanky pants.
Oh April, why are you so glum? Just a grey, wet, mess of a month you are! There’s pretty much only two things to get us through this limbo, and it’s the prospect of long summer days on the horizon and cute gear to help us through the New England downpours. That’s when theclassic trench coatcomes in. (*oh, and flowers – we’re cool with April showers if it brings May flowers)
So we’ve come to the realization that we’re sort of crazy nomadic bag ladies, and that we simply need bags inside of bags. We’ve been feeling very on-the-go these days, so a carry-all tote has become an essential. However, totes aren’t really any good if you just throw your plethora of things in there, hence, the secondary bag. Bag #2 is great for your cosmetics, or other random what-not, to keep it easily stored and out of the way from the rest of the bits & bobs you may have. We’re even advocates for a third and fourth bag for you extreme baggers out there — we’re schleppers, and we’re not ashamed!
This post is a bit of a jumble of pictures from my recent long weekend trip to Kansas. You’ll see outfit pics, family pics, landscape pics…you name it! I go to Kansas every so often to visit my grandparents and other family and I always forget how much I love it until I’m there— from the perfectly picturesque evenings with beautiful sunsets and fireflies, to riding bikes around town, and stopping by the corn fields to see how the crops are doing. We took a gorgeous bike ride in the evening on Saturday and took some pictures around town and outfit pics of Nick and myself (we ran out of time to finish mine!), here they are…
Hoping those storm clouds were going to move in the other direction – and they did!
My 2 quick pics haha. We ran into family so we didn’t get a chance to finish before it got too dark out, but that’s ok!
My aunt’s dog Piper, so cute and so sweet!
My grandparent’s cat Mr. Picton (aka Lord Picton)
Into town and then back into the country for this gorgeous sunset (#nofilter)
We love having fun with mixing prints, graphics, and colors, and since spring/summer is the perfect time to do so, we decided to steal this chick’s look, because we’re simply diggin’ it. The light cotton tee and the strappy sandals will keep you cool as the temps rise, but the pencil silhouette creates a sophistication. Pair it off with some diva sunnies, plus a bag and watch that pop, and you’re ready to rock. But to be honest, we’ve never tried this hair texturizer before — but the packaging was too cute to pass up!
Gingham makes us think of spring and summer – picnics anyone? But it doesn’t have to be homely, gingham is going vintage glam! We’re totally into the idea of adding this fun print to different aspects of our outfit, from our sunnies to our sneaks. We’ve got you covered from outdoor gatherings with friends at the park to strolling around the city. So think about adding some gingham to your wardrobe this summer – go gingham!
When we came across this image, we found it perfect to replicate since it can so easily transition from the office hours to happy hour. So now that things have officially warmed up in the New England, we’ve been flashing our ankles like crazy, and poppy red stilettos are a perfectly saucy way to do so. Keep the heat turned up with a bright lip, but tone it down with some jeans and a flowy blouse, plus neutral accessories.
Hope you’re all having a great start to your week!
