Happy Weekend

Can we just talk about this delicious looking truck for a second?! We don’t know if we’ve ever seen an automobile look so damn fine. Carb City, and we want in on that.

ANYWAYS, back to real life. We’re here with our Friday links (sorry for the radio silence last Friday, life can be so hectic sometimes!) Christa was in Colorado with Curtis visiting her brother from last Thursday-Tuesday (you may have seen some instagram pictures here & here), and this week has just been insane! I think the full moon week crazy-vibes came a week early…

But is everyone amped for the weekend? We’ll be spending it in Hartford together, shooting our first official contribution post for CT Eats Out! Can’t wait to team up with these guys and share with you all what we come up with. We’ll be doing a monthly post for them, so stay tuned!

cct // Still trying to do the “eat less sweets” thing, but it’s girl scout cookie season, and things like this mock me…

rkv // Yum yum dan dan

cct // I love finding DIYs that are beautiful and not that hard (insert heart eye emoji here)

rkv // Often times when I tell people that I can be pretty shy, they’re a little surprised (considering I definitely have a boisterous side). But one arena that always makes me tense up is networking, so I found this to be a nice read.

cct // Love me some Boho outfits

rkv // 13 personal trainers giving some of their best advice

cct // Design*Sponge is killing it right now — loving this, this & this.

This winter has been doing some work on me in terms of my health. I’ve been trying to stick with that resolution to exercise regularly, but it seems like every time I get into a rhythm my body chooses to shut down and get the flu… and then I faint on a train. Did that actually happen? Yes. Luckily I didn’t fully lose consciousness, a kind samaritan gave me his seat, and I was already on my way to the doctor. So it was pretty much a best-case-scenario.

Anyways, this playlist will hopefully help us all out with the fitness routine, granted we’re all in good health! I’ve found these songs to have a pretty solid beat that’s ideal for zoning out to. You can get a good run on with Lion Babe, Blacroc is perfect for strength training, and stretching feels amazing while zoning out to M.I.A. Get out there and kill it, ladies.

How was your holiday everyone?? We can’t believe it’s over already – but at least we have New Years to look forward to! We hope your holiday was full of good family, great food and fun memories! xo G&M

rkv // The Interview is officially available for streaming…will you be watching it?

cct // I stumbled upon this great list of the best beers from each state! Reg and Curtis have also gotten into the app Untappd, have you heard of it? It’s a social beer rating app.

rkv // NY Times list of the best books in 2014

cct // Who’s excited for the new Twin Peaks? I’m a little nervous to be honest, but these TP pin up illustrations made me day!

rkv // I’ll admit, I was pretty terrible at paying attention to my nutrition and exercise this holiday season…time to bounce back!

cct // We’re all about interior design and Apartment Therapy – have you seen some of their quizzes?

rkv // Just because Christmas is over, doesn’t mean the smell of it has to go away!

cct // I’m already trying to plan my next trip, and this carry on tutorial was great! Also, when can I get one of those Lo & Sons bags, they’re beautiful and so practical!

Happy Weekend!

Tomorrow is the OFFICIAL first day of summer friends, how exciting is that! We’ve been experiencing the heat already, but it will feel good to bump it up into summer full time (aka more beach and BBQs). This weekend’s weather looks promising, so before you head out to enjoy it, make sure to check out our Friday links!

cct // Speaking of summer, I guess that means it’s officially bikini season, ugh. I definitely need to fit in some cardio, but I can get down with these exercises for now.

rkv // Eek! I have 23 days until my first 10k ever, and I’m freakin’ a bit. I’m a bit behind on my training, but found these race do’s and don’ts refreshing!

cct // My boss made these amazing sounding cupcakes and I need to try them asap!

rkv // Lately I’ve been loving myself some green goddess dressing— it adds just the right amount of flavor to a dish, while being low in fat (the bad kind, that is). This recipe looks super scrumptious!

cct // We had a photo shoot yesterday (for the new Hartford Prints! website) with Victoria Gloria Photography, and here is a sneak peek – such gorgeous shots! (don’t mind my odd hip pop in the first pic, I don’t think I’m usually that wide??)

rkv // I’m feeling on this technique for beach-wave hair – I think the backcombing is key!

cct // These movies are 10 years old?! Woah…

rkv // I saw this and thought it looked like Christa’s dream snack (*um YES!)

 Have a lovely weekend!

So I don’t know about you guys, but I become a completely different person once things start warming up and I can go outside without a wool item of clothing. It’s like a gear totally switches in my head and all I want to do is frolic and sing. One result of this gear switching is a (semi) regular fitness routine. I’ve mentioned before that I’ve started training for a 10K, and let me tell you, it is a process. I’ve always been much more of a yoga and strength training kind of girl, and cardio sort of makes me feel like I’m dying. It’s only been about a month, but I’ve definitely been making some endurance progress.

I could never do any of this without a solid playlist to keep me going. While I like to have a lot of your usual upbeat songs, I sort of need a little variety in tempo to keep me interested. I can only handle so much loud bass pounding in my ears before I rip my the earbuds out because I feel it mocking my agony. So here is a little playlist to keep you motivated, it has some highs and lows that hopefully you find equally enjoyable!

*PS. I would usually put them in a more fluid order, but Spotify won’t let me do it on my phone – my apologies!

01. shot // alice smith

02. cut it out // kitten

03. g# // kitten

04. all eyes on you // st. lucia

05. the seed (2.0) // the roots

06. waterfalls // tlc

07. wildfire // sbtrkt feat. little dragon

08. queen bitch // david bowie

09. xo // beyonce

10. modern love // david bowie

11. age of consent // new order

12. genesis // grimes

13. over your shoulder // chromeo

14. baby i’m yours // breakbot feat. irfane

15. take me over // cut copy

Gymin’ It

With the temps still in the teens, it has become extremely challenging to leave hibernation mode. But if there’s one thing to get us off of the couch, step away from the chips, and get to the gym, it’s cute gear. And now that we’ve got scones on the brain (sorry!), we’re really trying to stick to our routine. These items will have you looking fine n’ fresh.. because eventually it will warm up.. and you will need to be in a bathing suit! Eek!gm_GymingIt
