2016 Gift Guides // The Traveler

2016_giftguide_traveler

Happy hump day, friends! We’re excited about today’s gift guide – gifts for your traveler! Whether they’re new to traveling, wanting to get into traveling, or are seasoned travelers, these items will excite the curious minds of people looking to experience new places.

Travelers want small, packable items that make life easier while on the road. Notebooks to document their trips, technology gadgets to ease their minds while being without power, and miniature sized items of their favorite things (cocktails, travel books, toiletries), are all great gifts for the traveler. We’re thinking we might add couple things to our wish lists…

2. Plaid Sleep Set
3. The Carry On Cocktail Kit

First off – we hope you all had a lovely Thanksgiving, ours were wonderful 🙂

And secondly, Thanksgiving has come and gone, and we’re jumping right to Christmas! While we still can’t believe the holiday season is actually upon us, we can’t pretend it isn’t happening anymore…time is ticking!

We’re starting with the minimalist gift guide – for that person in your life that wants, simple, meaningful, thoughtful gifts that err on the side of handmade, sustainably produced and/or detail oriented. The minimalist doesn’t want much, but they want quality items that they can rely on. Be willing to spend a little more on the minimalist in your life for a piece they will cherish.

Here are just a few things that I would love to give to friends and family (or keep for myself!)…

Holiday Host & Hostess Gifts

We’re finally at the short week we’ve all been waiting for! And we are so excited to have some down time with family & friends. Not sure about you all, but for the past few years we’ve been feeling more and more like adults. We can discuss careers with our families at get togethers (and actually be semi-knowledgable), eat brussel sprouts voluntarily, and choose to have breakfast and coffee with our family on Christmas morning before opening gifts. It’s a nice change of pace to feel a little more mellowed out right before the holiday, and not anxiety-ridden about not falling asleep or else Santa won’t come.

But if there’s one thing that adults do for one another, it’s bring a gift for your hostess or host. It’s makes that person feel appreciated and special, and shows that you aren’t just there for the free food 🙂 And while a nice bottle of wine or beer will always be a wonderful gift, we’re looking at some nontraditional gifts for this holiday season. Here’s some things we’ve been eyeing that we know our party-throwing pals would appreciate:

Gift Guide for Dads

DadGiftGuide_Holiday2014

Oh, Dads. How they love their snacks and fine leather goods. Picking things for them can sometimes be a challenge, because they’re really good at the whole “wow, this is great!” and then never ever use it routine. When it comes to your Pop, you sort of need to channel into their psyche. Sounds absurd, but hey, it works. You gotta think about what they do, when they do it, and their level of commitment to such hobbies (something tells me that most guys aren’t too intense about their skin care routine, and likely won’t be using that men’s Clarisonic). Hence we have lots of gifts involving good eats, cool gear, and leisurely activities.

“For yah Motha” Gift Guide

MomGiftGuide_Holiday2014

Moms can be a little tough to buy for, because anything they want/need tends to be a new kitchen appliance or cashmere, which can definitely burn a hole in your wallet. While we REALLY wish we could buy it for them, more often than not we just can’t quite tackle it on your own. Our families often go in on group gifts for when Mom wants something pricey, but if you’re looking to get her something meaningful just from you (and with a smaller price tag), we have some ideas! Our go-tos usually include cozy knits, kitchen items, and pretty everyday accessories:

Knit Infinity Scarf // Candle Holder // Salad Utensils // Small Gold Hoops // Cutting Board // Card Holder // Seasonal Produce Calendar // Glass Tea Infuser // Everyday Tote

Mother’s Day Gift Guide

Mother’s Day is coming up quickly! Hopefully you all have your cards and brunch spots picked out – but if you’re wanting to make it a little extra special, here’s a quick little gift guide to show your mamas, grandmas, and friends with kids some love!

mother's day

01. Kitchen towel // beautiful botanicals to liven up the kitchen!

02. Mini emergency kit // 21 essentials in a tiny bag, to keep her pulled together on a whim!

03. Surf Spray // for those beach waves she’s always asking you how to get

04. Umbrella // because let’s be real, April showers usually carry into May

05. Lounge pants // to relax to the max

06. Travel mug // to stay caffeinated on the go!

Any ideas for the mamas in your lives? We’d love to know!
