Magical Pink Wall

Happy hump day, friends! We’re trying to brighten up this gloomy day with fun walls! If you’re in the Hartford area, you should check out these cheery murals (on the side of the road on Pope Park Highway) – there are green, purple and blue ones too!

With the weather finally cooling down, it was the perfect day to break out the clogs and a long cozy sweater. To be honest, this outfit is pretty much my uniform in the fall! I love classic neutrals with some gold jewelry and a fun shoe.

I was most excited about my DIY necklace though! I grabbed some thin leather from Michaels and tied myself a little chocker. Thinking about doing a DIY post with a couple variations of what you can do with the leather strips! Stay tuned!

Trashion Fashion Show

NoRaCupcake_TrashionFashion

Happy Monday! So, a few weekends ago I was able to be apart of an amazing Hartford event, Trashion Fashion, and I couldn’t wait to share my experience and the fantastic designs with you all! Amy, founder and previous neighbor has been putting on this exciting event for 5 years now, and I can’t believe this is the 1st I’ve been to it/been apart of it!

“Trashion Fashion is on a mission to contribute to a global reduction of waste through creative solutions.”

I was chosen last minute (only 1 week away from the show), to model the gorgeous commissioned NoRa Cupcake dress, one of the sponsors for the event. It was designed by Zoe Grinfeld, an up and coming fashion designer and high school senior who recently won Project Runway: Threads, who has been making clothing out of recycled materials for quite awhile now.

I arrived bright and early (7am, ugh) at Hartford City Hall where the event was taking place, and got my hair and make up done. I hadn’t seen my dress at this point and was really excited to see how everything was going to unfold. I also didn’t know until I got there, that my make up was going to be an “elevated look” meaning I was getting a little more done-up than some of the other models. I got my hair done by the amazing Rafael from La Bella Chateau, and my make up done by the super talented ladies at Tainted. Kat took over and killed it with the fantastic neon pink eye shadow, decorative black painted elements and sprinkle eyebrows (and shoulders!).

These teams did hair and make up for 70 (!!) models and we took over Hartford City Hall with fittings, runway walk training, photoshoots and more. It was such a unique and amazing experience.

But, without further ado – let’s check out some of the fantastic looks that Curtis was able to capture on the runway!

Jessica Rose Cocktail

If you remember our Birch & Bourbon post, you’ll remember Hartford Flavor Company! Shortly after that post, I attended a CADC & HFCo. happy hour at their Hartford shop and was wowed while tasting other flavors and learning about how they make their liqueurs. Both Curtis and I fell immediately in love with the rose flavor and knew we needed a bottle at home. And when we tried the Jessica Rose cocktail, it was game-over.

This past weekend we celebrated my Oma’s 80th birthday by hosting my Mom’s side of the family for dinner and dessert before going to a show at Hartford Stage. We decided to kick off the evening with a light cocktail – this lovely rose drink. It was a hit, and the pink-orange color looked so pretty with my table cloth 🙂

Recipe: The Jessica Rose, adapted from Hartford Flavor Company

1 oz. Wild Moon Rose Liqueur
1 oz. vodka (I used Prairie)
2.5 oz Lemonade
Squeeze of fresh lemon (I used Meyer lemons)
Lemon garnish

Mix together in a cocktail shaker, pour and enjoy!

Happy Friday, friends! We thought we’d take a quick break from our Friday Links to present to you: Put a Scarf on it, Part Deux. I bought this dress for my birthday, and had so much fun in it I had to break it out again for our holiday party. The high-low hemline was flirty and festive, and paired with my red lipstick, I was ready to roll. As previously posted, we made our way around town in our fancy holiday outfits, scarves in tow. We’re New England girls, we just love our scarves…

*Btw, I just want to give a little shoutout to those Old Navy heels. I usually have issues with heels, and these are extremely comfortable and so affordable!

Weekend Wander

Happy Tuesday, friends! We hope you had a wonderful Labor Day weekend doin whatever you were doin! I had a lovely leisurely weekend walk over to Elizabeth Park on Saturday afternoon with Curtis. We had not a plan in the world and decided to grab a frisbee, some snacks, and walked over to the park. Our favorite part about living in the West End of Hartford is being in walking distance to some of our favorite restaurants and bars, but especially our short distance to Elizabeth Park. We grabbed some coffee and iced tea from Tisane’s, and then headed over. We were pleasantly surprised that the Rose Garden had a 2nd wave of blooms that happen this time of year, so we wandered around looking at all of the roses, herb gardens and wild flowers.
