December already?! December is going to fly by – our calendars are already filling up with holiday parties, cookie-swaps, happy hours and a trip to Hartford for Christa’s birthday! Yay! 🙂 What is your favorite December event?!
With those chilly autumn days on the horizon, we’ve been ogling the fall layers and colors we’re anticipating wearing once the crazy New England humidity ends. We love the street-style look of a bomber jacket with some chunky headphones — the combo just makes us want to strut down the sidewalk looking fly as a mofo, listening to the BeeGees and pretending that we’re cooler than we actually are 🙂
Summer is officially here, people! We’ve had some ups and downs with the weather, but I think we’re finally feelin the heat. With this summer weather upon us, we’re starting to shape up our summer wardrobe. We’re always looking to other stylish bloggers for their warm weather looks (one of our favorite pinterest boards is our summer style board), and the ladies over at A Piece of Toast know how to style summer heat far better than us (Texas heat is not joke!). We’re all about rocking a good bandana and jean jacket, and this unique layered look is perfect for the indoor/outdoor struggles of the office. Happy copying 🙂
Reg’s office is relocating to their new building this morning and she has been on the lookout for updated items for her new spot — and because we’re as obsessed with decorating our cubicle as we are for our apartment, we thought we’d share some of our favorite office-sprucing pieces from around the web that can help organize and personalize your space!
Guys, what is this weather?? This snow is really throwing us for a loop, but we’re still thinking Spring – outfit wise. Keep warm with pastel outerwear, or stay springy underneath your big puffy coat (we’ve moved on to floral and aren’t giving it up!)
Don’t let a little winter weather bum you out – keep wearing what you’re wearing and just bundle up a little tighter for the chilly temps. Rock the floral 70s silhouettes – even with a little snow on the ground.
This outfit right here, might be our uniform. It’s perfect for pretty much any weekend hang, and it would be spot-on for a St. Patrick’s Day parade (which we’re assuming some of you might be attending this weekend). With our unpredictable New England weather, it covers the basics – can you add or take off a layer? do you still have a shape/style/look cute while maintaining correct layers? can you walk for long periods of time in this outfit? Check, check & check! Plus it’s green without screaming green (eek!), no pinches here 😉
While it might not be snowing at the moment (we heard you Punxsutawney Phil — early, rainy spring coming soon…), the dirty and muddy streets are by no means clear of wintery-mix slush. We want to protect our favorite leather booties and suede flats as long as possible, so stylish and functioning winter boots are a must in New England.
Christa received a pair ofSorel Joan of Arcticboots for Christmas and fell in love! And the Sorel boot collection is no joke! We pretty much want a style for every wintery condition.
We thought we’d dress up some winter boots…Hartford & Boston style – out on the town, on the commute, and daytime weekend in the snow – in these multipurpose Sorel Slimboot Lace-Ups.
Little Miss Liz over at Sequins & Stripes totally feels our pain when it comes to living in cold and windy cities. We love checking out her posts for winter outfit inspiration, because she’s out of Chicago, where things ain’t warm this time of year! (We’re looking at you, SoCal bloggers…)
We’re in love with this look for it’s simplicity and versatility — I mean how many times do you think she’s worn each and every item in that outfit? We’re gonna guess a bagillion. They’re all wardrobe staples that can be mixed up with other ensembles endlessly, which we totally appreciate when these winters feel like they may last forever.
We’re finally at the short week we’ve all been waiting for! And we are so excited to have some down time with family & friends. Not sure about you all, but for the past few years we’ve been feeling more and more like adults. We can discuss careers with our families at get togethers (and actually be semi-knowledgable), eat brussel sprouts voluntarily, and choose to have breakfast and coffee with our family on Christmas morning before opening gifts. It’s a nice change of pace to feel a little more mellowed out right before the holiday, and not anxiety-ridden about not falling asleep or else Santa won’t come.
But if there’s one thing that adults do for one another, it’s bring a gift for your hostess or host. It’s makes that person feel appreciated and special, and shows that you aren’t just there for the free food 🙂 And while a nice bottle of wine or beer will always be a wonderful gift, we’re looking at some nontraditional gifts for this holiday season. Here’s some things we’ve been eyeing that we know our party-throwing pals would appreciate:
When I was in Boston for Labor Day weekend, we decided we would take a break from blogging for a second and just spend the weekend hangin out…then the 1st thing we did was shoot an outfit post, ha. BUT it was our only “official” blog thing for the weekend, and it was nice to just chill.
*So funny story about this top. I got it at Goodwill probably 5 years ago (?), and at least once a year I throw it in my “give back to goodwill” pile, and somehow it finds it’s way back into my closet! Right now I’m obsessed with it once again, but we’ll see how long that lasts…!
