Room Refresh // Masculine Lodge

Hey all! For our final installment of our living room Room Refresh series, we’ve chosen a slightly masculine, earthy cabin style – because at the end of the day, everyone just wants to be all cozied up by the fire in a place that looks straight out of a story book.

To achieve this look, the most important characteristic of all is wood on top of wood, on top of wood. Just deck the place out in the stuff. If it begins to feel a smidge oppressive, feel free to brighten it up with some white paint. Next element? Leather and/or fur (faux, if you please!). The combo of these two textures creates the strong look you’re going for, and establishes the feeling of being a lumberjack. In order to soften it back a bit, add some linen elements and bit of metallic here and there. This will allow the place to feel a little more modern and homey, and less like you attacked a forest in order to decorate your place. See below for some inspiration of this lived-in decor:

Below, we’ve curated some items for you guys to achieve this lodgey look. It’s surprisingly easy to do, since all of these textures are staples in design (wood, linen, brass, etc.). It’s the way they’re combined that really give you that cabin quality. That, plus a few woodland creatures here and there.

Room Refresh // Global Traveler Living Room

Hey all! It’s time for another Room Refresh! Today we’re featuring the “global traveler” – someone who picks up things from their ventures, and just keeps adding! This style sort of sees no limits when it comes to pattern, texture and color. Inspired by the textures and patterns of other cultures, deep saturated hues are your calling, and everything in your home looks like it has a story behind it. Your bohemian quarters have great mood lighting, incense, and good books.

Here’s some inspiration to jump start your quest for the perfect boho home:

The best part about this style is you can never have too many trinkets, the more the merrier. Gathering things over time from the different places you’ve traveled is really the best way to pull this look together, but we were able get a similar vibe from objects available near you. *(Just in case you weren’t planning on going to South Africa or Morocco any time in the near future)

Room Refresh // Minimal Living Room

We’re back with our second Room Refresh, with our focus still on living rooms! Today we’re covering minimalism, and in the sense of home decorating it can mean a lot of different things. The style of minimalism can see a generous range, from Scandinavian minimalism (seen in this post), mod{ern} minimalism, to literally just the bare essentials. But one thing is certain, they all like white and concrete! And while we do love our trinkets, there is something so refreshing about being unattached and removing the unnecessary. Check out some stripped down living rooms that posses a lovely openness about them…

First things first, in order to achieve this look you need a lot of wood (preferably unfinished pine or teak), a tinge of industrial, and a bit of greenery. Scandinavian minimalism is very much focused on the integrity of the products used and the neutralism between everything. But don’t let go of all color, texture or pattern! And most importantly, minimalism isn’t about getting rid of EVERYTHING just to do it, but paring down your things to your most essential & treasured, and showing those off. Marry your beloved items in your sleek, airy room and you’ll be good to go!
