Etsy Round Up // Vol 24

Happy Monday, loves! How was everyone’s Father’s Day weekends? We had a busy busy day on Saturday shooting with CT Eats Out & Allegra Anderson for another CT Eats Out post that we are very excited about! We then got to hang with our Dads! My family went mini golfing with some family friends, and then had an amazing surf & turf meal that my Dad grilled up at home. Reg’s parents drove her back to Boston and they had a decadent meal over at Legal Seafood. Nothin’ like a beautiful day with some amazing food 🙂

Anyway, we’re back with this month’s Etsy Round Up, and it always surprises me how I can accidentally create a theme while browsing for my items. This month I am loving metallics and home goods apparently! Curtis and I have been talking about looking at new apartments, so maybe I’m channeling my inner stylist and secretly getting excited about redecorating a new place! Enjoy…:)

^ Pizza is big in our family, and Curtis and I met at a pizza place, so this gorgeous peel caught my attention!

^ Curtis so lovingly helped me refinish our dining room table (hoping to eventually get a before & after post of that up on the blog eventually!), but we never got around to sealing the wood, so we live in constant fear of water marks! I never knew I could be so into coasters…

Etsy Round Up // Holiday 2014

While the shipping requirements might be too short for these gifts to arrive before Christmas, you could think of this list as general holiday inspiration or a way to stock up for next year (you can never be too prepared…)! Either way, they’re too beautiful and fun not to share, so get buyin or get inspired, because these items are gorgeous!

I’ve always loved seeing gifts wrapped in beautiful fabric – and there are tons of online video tutorials on how to do it yourself!

If time slipped away from you this year, think about sending New Years cards & gifts instead!

Super fun party cups! I spy a quick and fun DIY with a gold sharpie and some quirky handlettering!

Festival Fashion // Round 2

We still have festival fever over here in the North East, dreaming of being able to roam freely between music tents with lemonade in hand and not a care in the world. Feeling inspired from yesterday’s looks, we decided to pick up on some of the major trends we’ve been seeing and piece some outfits together that we hope to soon be wearing.

gm_Festival_pants

Tribal Pants // Tribal pants are going to be everywhere at a festival, and for good reason. They’re fun, they’re playful and most importantly, they’re super comfy. We love this flattering wide leg with a slimming fitted tube top. Have some fun by mixing up the print with what else?…how about more print! These leopard sandals mis-match perfectly.

gm_Festival_Romper

Playful Romper // Rompers are great because they have the ease of dress, but since they’re shorts, you won’t be worried about them flying around in the wind. This oversize floral pattern is eye catching, and festive. Pair it with some bold metallic jewelry, chunky sandals, and pinstripe backpack to really stand out.

Crop Top // Crop tops are a little intimidating when you first see them on the hanger, and with good reason. Anyone who can pull them off with a low-rise bottom is basically a barbie-doll and should be studied in a laboratory. For us average people, these tops actually work very well with a high-wasted flowy skirt, to show just a little skin on the upper rib cage. Keep the outfit light and bright (and the sun out of your eyes) with a wide-brimmed hat, simple sandals, and a statement satchel.

Room Refresh // Masculine Lodge

Hey all! For our final installment of our living room Room Refresh series, we’ve chosen a slightly masculine, earthy cabin style – because at the end of the day, everyone just wants to be all cozied up by the fire in a place that looks straight out of a story book.

To achieve this look, the most important characteristic of all is wood on top of wood, on top of wood. Just deck the place out in the stuff. If it begins to feel a smidge oppressive, feel free to brighten it up with some white paint. Next element? Leather and/or fur (faux, if you please!). The combo of these two textures creates the strong look you’re going for, and establishes the feeling of being a lumberjack. In order to soften it back a bit, add some linen elements and bit of metallic here and there. This will allow the place to feel a little more modern and homey, and less like you attacked a forest in order to decorate your place. See below for some inspiration of this lived-in decor:

Below, we’ve curated some items for you guys to achieve this lodgey look. It’s surprisingly easy to do, since all of these textures are staples in design (wood, linen, brass, etc.). It’s the way they’re combined that really give you that cabin quality. That, plus a few woodland creatures here and there.

Christmas Party Sparkle

gm_HolidaySparkle_1gm_HolidaySparkle_2gm_HolidaySparkle_3gm_HolidaySparkle_4gm_HolidaySparkle_5

Hey everyone, Christa here – these are my first outfit pics ever, so be gentle! I was very excited to shoot these because getting dressed up for parties is one of my favorite things to do! There has been an annual Christmas potluck with friends going on since the early college days, and we’ve managed to keep it going after all of these years. It’s fun and delicious, and the only other “rule” besides bringing a top notch dish is formal attire. This doesn’t mean black tie, since we’re lounging around someone’s apartment, but it’s definitely more than your usual friend potluck dinner outfit. I wore this to the party on Saturday night and felt dressed up yet comfortable with my metallic sweater, a little bling, comfy knit dress (shown as a skirt) & booties.
