Well, today is an interesting day, indeed. A lot is happening for this country of ours, and we are certainly curious to see how these next few years pan out. But without thinking too much into it, let’s focus on the present, embrace today, and pat yourselves on the backs for hustling through another work week.

Have a lovely weekend, all 🙂

We are so very close to our vacation time in Old Lyme, CT with our old pals, and we are beyond ready to soak up that sun with the gang. This kind of vibe definitely gets us into an upbeat poppy kind of mood, with of course a splash of indie because I just can’t help myself.

Love, Want, Need // Beach Coverups and Speakers

lovewantneed_beachcoverupsandspeakers

With all of this warm weather and sunny days, we can’t help but dream about having our feet in the sand while we sit in our cubes. We’re loving ourselves some vintage inspired kaftan-style beach coverups & cutesy embroidered tops to throw on once you’ve had a little too much Vitamin D. And of course no beach day is complete without an easy-to-carry speaker. Seriously, grab yourself one if you don’t have on already, they make all outdoor gatherings that much better!

Want: Topshop Dress // SunnyLife Retro Sounds Speaker & Radio

Need: Zara Embroidered Dress // GSPON Speaker

Permission to completely girl-out for a minute? Christa and I are utterly in love with NBC’s Nashville. It’s just so juicy! We have no shame in it and want to share our adoration with the world.

That said, whenever we’re in the midst of a season, it always makes us wish we had some country flare to our blood. While we’ve never really been into modern radio country, other types can definitely hit home with us. Of course we love the folky stuff, but we’re also lovers of all things oldies and bluegrass. This month’s playlist wanders along the folk path, but if you’re in the mood for something a little more old school and twangy, check out this playlist from a couple of summers back.

Or give this month’s a listen here!

I’ve been feeling pretty mellowed out these days. At work, on the train, putting on my makeup, cooking — all involve me listening to soft tunes and just overall taking it easy. I’ve always been into calming jives, but it seems a little elevated lately, and I’m rolling with it.

If you’ve been feeling similarly, then this playlist is for you. A combination of twang-y folk/indie guitar, and a little bit of synth-y sounds as well. Speaking  of which, did you guys know that Vanessa Carlton came out with an indie album last year? I just discovered it yesterday and can’t stop listening. You can check out one of her songs on my playlist as well.

Sweet Beats // December 2015

For those of you who celebrate Christmas like us, we’re struggling a little to fully get into the spirt this year. For some reason it’s just not feeling like the holiday season! It probably doesn’t help that yesterday was 60 degrees and sunny… usually we’ve already busted out our wool socks and scarves! We’re hoping that by listening to a little holiday music it’ll get us more excited and ready to drink that nog and deck them halls.

We’ve busted out two seasonal playlists from the archives for ya, because why not?

Do you guys ever bicker with your family in the car about what music to listen to? I’m hoping this playlist will alleviate some of that while you all travel together this week. It’s got a whole of the classics, all of which are pretty guaranteed to make you go “awww I love this song!” or in Dad’s case “whoaaa I haven’t heard this since I played in on vinyl in college,” because he’s just soooo cool.

So I don’t know how things are around your neck of the woods, but Bean Town is pouring, and it ain’t stopping any time soon. Sadly it seems like this may put a hiccup in our plans to go on a girl’s weekend hike in NH, so we’re currently trying to schedule other activities. Hopefully we can find some goodies! In the mean time, while I’m cooped up in my office, I’ve crafted a mellow rainy day playlist to pass the hours.

Ohhhh my goodness, this week has been insane! Not only has work been a  hot mess, but yesterday I went across the street to the laundry mat and realized it was closed. PERMANENTLY. I mean come on man, what is that? Considering I live in a city with no car, I was pretty distraught, I’m not gonna lie. But you know what made me feel better? The glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel — I get to have a long weekend at a beach house with Christa and friends! And you know what goes well with lounging on the beach? REGGAE MUSIC.

Sweet Beats // June 2015

I must say, I was very excited when I went online last night to see that Leon Bridges had finally released his first album. A few months back I heard a couple EPs and was totally swooning. He was pretty much plucked out of 1956 and I’m so into it. I decided to make an entire playlist based on a similar sound — retro, soul, funk, doo-wop, with a tiny bit of grit at times. The timing is perfect because this coming Saturday, Christa will be having a house-warming party in her new digs, and I’m thinking this list will be perfect while we’re getting things set up.

Click here for the link on Spotify, and have a happy hump day!
