Travel Diary // Tudor City, NYC

One of my best friends from college, Brit moved out to NYC about 6 months ago and I hadn’t had a chance to visit her until this weekend. I must confess that I wouldn’t consider myself a NYC gal, but after visiting her little quiet pocket of the lower east side, I could almost be convinced, ha.

We had a lovely chill weekend catching up, visiting with her roomie Lauren and some of her friends from out of town, meeting Brit’s new kitty Dorian, hanging out in Central Park with my good friend Emily and her adorable pup Pico, and eating delicious food.

Here are some pics from the trip!

Happy Weekend!

Guys, it’s Fridayyy! This week went by surprisingly fast actually and we’re definitely ok with that. We both have busy and fun weekends ahead of us – Reg will be in NYC visiting old friends, and Christa will be poking around NH and Mass, stopping in Portsmouth & Rockport. We’ll be trying to get some profesh photos with our nice cameras, but in the mean time, keep an eye out on our instagram!

You might be thinking, what is NSS2015? WELL, it’s something you should know about – it’s the National Stationery Show, and it’s amazing. Unfortunately it’s not something everyone can attend (womp womp), but you can definitely be kept in the loop by social media. It’s a massive showcase of stationers large and small, and the best place to spot new trends, beautiful cards and hardworking companies. We’ve been keeping tabs via instagram (#nss and #nss2015) and here are some of our favorite sneak peeks!

Band Profile // Cheerleader

Have you guys heard of Cheerleader? If not, it’s time you oughta. We may be a little biased because they’re some of our best friends, but for real, their sound is just what you want on a sunny day. Known for their hazy indie pop tunes, they’ve been landing them some serious internet play, and have recently been featured on some of our favorite sites like Refinery29’s New Music September Nylon Magazine’s Band Crush.

Joe (middle) & Chris (2nd to the left) went to high school with the two of us in CT, and were biffies with Christa’s boyfriend Curtis long before she and him even began dating. Over the years they’ve been in all sorts of bands, and now Cheerleader is really crushing it. These gents just keep doing what they love, and it’s paying off.

Based out of Philly, they’re currently touring the North East — so if you have a chance to see them, we highly recommend it! They’re heading to NYC & Boston at the end of the month, but you can check out the other tour dates and locations here. Also make sure to take a look at their recent adds to iTunes!

Five Minute Date Makeup

Happy Monday everyone! We hope you had a wonderful weekend, and although it’s only Monday, I’m sure some of you are already dreaming of the weekend. Here is a simple make up tutorial for a midweek after-work hang out, whether it be with that guy you’ve just started seeing or drinks with your girlfriends!

I’m very simple when it comes to make up on a day to day basis, and honestly I don’t mind…I can’t imagine having to wake up any earlier (I need my sleep!). So this is my basic makeup routine with a little extra pizazz for your after-work meet up!GM_Beauty_1_GM_Beauty_2_

*Make sure to bronze a little below your cheek bones (do the unflattering fishy face and sweep a little bronzer into your hollowed cheeks). With blush, whether it be cream blush or powdered blush – brush onto the apples of your cheeks and bring back towards your ears. A little can go along way with some blushes, so play around at home a few times before heading out in public.

Use your most dramatic mascara for your date! You might feel a little weird at work with your fullest lashes, but you’ll be happy you do when you head out after a long day and your lashes are still flirty and full.

The highlighter is the beginning of your date night look, it brings just the right amount of attention to your eyes and is a little sassier than your work makeup.

The greatest thing about a lot lip stains are that they can also be used on your cheeks! So if you’re feeling a little drab after work, pop this on both your lips AND cheeks.

And then you’re done! After just a little bit of concealer, bronzer, blush, eyeliner, and mascara you’re ready for work, and then you can transform yourself for that date night with a little highlighter and lip color – easy peasy!
