Peach Bellini

This upcoming weekend marks the unofficial transition to Fall (Labor Day), but let’s use it to stay summery instead – because Fall isn’t technically until September 22nd! We’re not quite ready to pack away the sandals and bathing suits just yet (especially because the weather in New England is crazy unpredictable).

With an extra day off on Monday, grab some sparkling wine & peach purée (or in our case, the delicious Powell & Mahoney Beach Bellini mix) and stay summery for a couple more days 🙂

01. Pop bottle of sparkling wine! We loved our bottle of Schlumberger Grüner Vetliner Brut  from Niche Import Co.
02. Pour sparkling wine into glass
03. Top off with peach purée (we love the Powell & Mahoney Peach Bellini Mix!)
04. Garnish however you see fit! Raspberries or lemon and orange peels are great toppers.
05. Enjoy 🙂

Special thanks to Niche Import Co. for the delicious Schlumberger Grüner Vetliner Brut & to Treasures Old Lyme for the beautiful glasses.

Old Lyme 2016

Happy Friday, friends! We’re getting back into the swing of real life, but we’re still wishing we were back here! We had such an amazing time playing games, making food, puzzling, swimming and just hanging out (all 11 of us!). Take a peek at our 5 days in Old Lyme heaven 🙂

^ And last but not least, we had to pop into Lobster Landing after our friends over at CT Eats Out did such an amazing interview with the owner. The lobster rolls were fantastic and we saw Enea in his little uniform running around talking to people and making things happen!

And incase you missed our last couple Old Lyme trips, you can check them out here & here!

Happy Weekend!

Happy Friday, loves! What a week! All we can think about is how we’re only a half week away from next week’s annual friend beach hang in Old Lyme (previous posts here & here), and we’re dreaming of total chill. We’re trying to stay cool with this outrageous New England humidity, but it’s been hard. Looking forward to being near the coast and soaking up some friend time! We’ll be posting on Monday & Wednesday, but you won’t be hearing from us again until the following Wednesday, so keep an eye out on instagram for beachy pics 🙂 xo

August Moodboard

These summer months just fly by don’t they?! We’re pretty excited about August because we’ll be meeting up with our closest friends for our annual Old Lyme long weekend away (last seen here & here).

August to us is fun, quirky, and full of ice cream, tacos and cocktails, hehe. Our moodboard is full of bold, bright statement images and we’re trying to live similarly – bold & bright 😉

Old Lyme 2015

So, sorry about dropping off the face of the earth there for a couple of days! We had planned on bringing a computer to post on Friday and Monday, and then we forgot…ha. We were hanging at our annual high school/college friend Beach Haus hang out in Old Lyme, CT from Thursday until Monday evening. We posted about it last year, and it is always a fantastic time. We sit around, tan, play games, cook lots of food and catch up with our friends who have spread out around the country. Check it out…

Our Fave Southern New England Beaches

It’s heatin’ up this week and we’re dreaming of warm sand and partly sunny skies. While we’re sitting in air conditioning with wanderlust, we’ve compiled some of our favorite New England ocean getaways for you all in the area!

Watch Hill Beach | Westerly, RI

Watch Hill was probably not on your radar until Tay Tay came around and bought a house there, and to be honest, it’s kind of messed things up for the normal Watch Hill goer. Christa spent her childhood going to Watch Hill – popping into the shops, getting peppermint ice cream at the St. Clair Annex Ice Cream Fountain, and riding the super old carousel. It has real waves, and the soft sandy beaches are perfection. While the parking costs have gone up (and you need to be there before, like, 9am), we still recommend giving Watch Hill a try. We’re thinkin’ maybe early September after the kids are back in school and the summer crowds have died down.

From Boston: about an hour and a half, from Hartford: a little over an hour and 15 mins

Old Lyme Beach | Old Lyme, CT

A few weekends from now we will be beachin it with our old friends from high school in Old Lyme (check our last year’s pictures). While it doesn’t have those RI waves we were talking about in Watch Hill, it has exactly what you need out of a beach – water, sun and sand. We don’t venture too far from the beach itself, but we’ve heard it has a couple rowdy beach bars and if you’re looking for some fresh produce on the way home, we love this little farm stand off the main road that has amazing pies and local berries!

From Boston: about 2 hours, from Hartford: a little over 45 mins

Hammonasset State Park | Madison, CT

This Connecticut State Beach has a lot of things going for it – a set parking price of $13 for instate residents (YES), 4 main beaches to choose from, and it has spots for grills, camping and parties. It does fill up fast on the weekends with an unbeatable parking price like that, so get there early.

From Boston: 2 hours and 15 minutes, from Hartford: a little less than an hour

Wingaersheek Beach | Gloucester, MA

If you’re into taking mile-long strolls on crystal-blue sand bars, this beach is definitely for you. While not ideal for swimming, it’s great for a picnic, laying out, and taking a dip in the pockets of cool water. If you’re going with a family, be sure to bring some supplies for crabbing and digging up snails, because these flat rocks make the perfect little eco-systems for them! Turns out Gloucester has an adorable town center as well — we did some thrift shopping and also popped into a renowned seafood restaurant for lunch, Short & Main (if you’re an oyster fan, they do $1 oysters for the first hour of opening every Sunday!).

From Boston: About 50 minutes, from Hartford: 2 hours 10 mins

Crane Beach | Ipswich, MA

Grassy dunes and long boardwalks welcome you to this awesome stretch of beach. This beach is roomy, giving you lots of space to set up camp. But prepare yourself for that cold Atlantic water, because it is not forgiving! We went when there was a storm approaching, so it was hot & humid, but with waters that actually hurt to be in — I’m hoping that was just a fluke! On the bright side, we went on a busy Saturday, but didn’t have any problems parking in their giant lot at a reasonable price.

From Boston: about an hour, from Hartford: 2 hours 20 mins

Old Lyme

Two weekends ago we spent some quality time with our old buddies in Old Lyme, Connecticut. Over the last couple of years our paths have taken us all to several different cities across the East Coast, so whenever we can manage big group hangouts, it’s always a blast. This year was nothing short of awesome — complete with lots o’ grilling, games, and goofballs. Take a looksie at some snap shots from our weekend retreat!
