Summer is officially here, people! We’ve had some ups and downs with the weather, but I think we’re finally feelin the heat. With this summer weather upon us, we’re starting to shape up our summer wardrobe. We’re always looking to other stylish bloggers for their warm weather looks (one of our favorite pinterest boards is our summer style board), and the ladies over at A Piece of Toast know how to style summer heat far better than us (Texas heat is not joke!). We’re all about rocking a good bandana and jean jacket, and this unique layered look is perfect for the indoor/outdoor struggles of the office. Happy copying 🙂

Springy Outfits for Winter Weather

Guys, what is this weather?? This snow is really throwing us for a loop, but we’re still thinking Spring – outfit wise. Keep warm with pastel outerwear, or stay springy underneath your big puffy coat (we’ve moved on to floral and aren’t giving it up!)

Don’t let a little winter weather bum you out – keep wearing what you’re wearing and just bundle up a little tighter for the chilly temps. Rock the floral 70s silhouettes – even with a little snow on the ground.

Little Miss Liz over at Sequins & Stripes totally feels our pain when it comes to living in cold and windy cities. We love checking out her posts for winter outfit inspiration, because she’s out of Chicago, where things ain’t warm this time of year! (We’re looking at you, SoCal bloggers…)

We’re in love with this look for it’s simplicity and versatility — I mean how many times do you think she’s worn each and every item in that outfit? We’re gonna guess a bagillion.  They’re all wardrobe staples that can be mixed up with other ensembles endlessly, which we totally appreciate when these winters feel like they may last forever.

Love Want Need // Cross Body Bags & Blanket Scarves

Gm_LoveWantNeed_BlanketScarvesAndCrossBodyBags

Blanket scarves are definitely having a moment right now. And why shouldn’t they? I think we can all agree that when we leave the house and it’s in the 30s, feeling like you’re wrapped up in a giant blankie brings a tremendous amount of comfort. The key to not looking like Lenny Kravtiz when you wear this style, is to know your limits. Keep proportions, fabric, and texture in mind. Don’t forget that it is in fact a scarf, you are in public, and not on your couch watching Netflix. To balance it out, pair it with a petite cross-body and skinnies, to keep your frame looking lean and polished.

When I was in Boston for Labor Day weekend, we decided we would take a break from blogging for a second and just spend the weekend hangin out…then the 1st thing we did was shoot an outfit post, ha. BUT it was our only “official” blog thing for the weekend, and it was nice to just chill.

*So funny story about this top. I got it at Goodwill probably 5 years ago (?), and at least once a year I throw it in my “give back to goodwill” pile, and somehow it finds it’s way back into my closet! Right now I’m obsessed with it once again, but we’ll see how long that lasts…!

Shark Week

gm_SharksTooth_4

This post has nothing to do with shark week besides this awesome mural we stumbled upon while exploring Portsmouth, NH (and I think technically we took these photos during Shark Week)! But whatever, because this mural is amazing!

We had a busy weekend of New England day tripping, covering South Central New Hampshire, Coastal New Hampshire (Portsmouth) & Rockport Mass. These flowy shorts (Old Navy rings them up as a skort…) were perfect for our walk around town, and my simple tee and sandals keep the look easy and breezy. I am in love with my Target fedora which has a similar look to the beloved J. Crew Panama Hat.

We basically ate our way through Portsmouth, stopping at 3 places to eat while we were there, and on Friday I’ll be breaking down the delicious spots we stopped at!

Graduation Outfits

No, neither of us are graduating – but you probably know a few cousins, siblings or significant others who are. This upcoming weekend in Rhode Island, Christa’s brother is graduation from Roger Williams with a degree in Architecture (yay!), and she, Curtis, her parents, and both sets of grandparents will be there to celebrate. We’ve already had to deal with the graduation dress fiasco (what to wear??), but realizing that she’ll be in almost as many pictures as the graduate, the question about what to wear has come up again.

The biggest problem is weather. You never know what you’re going to get in New England in the beginning of May. Christa’s graduation was outdoors and POURING rain, while Regina’s was a nice day, but inside. Nick’s will be outdoors under a tent, and we’re keeping our fingers crossed for that the mid 70’s party cloudy forecast that we saw today. We’re breaking down a couple Graduation activity outfits for you — the actual ceremony, the afterparty and Sunday brunch with the fam — but feel free to mix and match if one outfit seems more appropriate for your event. And most importantly, layer up, fuel up (pack extra snacks and water), and sunscreen up if you’re outside, because you’re going to be there for awhile!

Love, Want, Need // Bags in Bags

Gm_LoveWantNeed_BagsInBags

So we’ve come to the realization that we’re sort of crazy nomadic bag ladies, and that we simply need bags inside of bags. We’ve been feeling very on-the-go these days, so a carry-all tote has become an essential. However, totes aren’t really any good if you just throw your plethora of things in there, hence, the secondary bag. Bag #2 is great for your cosmetics, or other random what-not, to keep it easily stored and out of the way from the rest of the bits & bobs you may have. We’re even advocates for a third and fourth bag for you extreme baggers out there — we’re schleppers, and we’re not ashamed!

Great Barrington Stroll

Curtis, our friends Lauren & Drew, and I took a lovely day trip this past Friday to Great Barrington, Mass. It was a nice sunny day where we walked up and down the main stretch, checking out local shops, grabbing treats, coffee and lunch.

gm_GB_Insta

Right when we arrived we popped into One Mercantile – a dream shop for Lauren & myself. It had letterpressed cards, screen printed napkins, beautiful coffee table books, handmade soaps and much more. We both left with a couple items (we couldn’t help ourselves!) Next we browsed around Rubiner’s – a cheesemonger & grocer shop which not only had delicious cheese, but was a stunningly beautiful space. Attached to the back and owned by the same people was Rubi’s, a cafe where we grabbed some drinks and treats. Everyone was extremely happy with their warm drinks and we wandered around a little more until lunch at Baba Louie’s. This pizza place was perfection – I got the Dolce Vita pie – which was tomato sauce, wilted spinach, fresh mozzarella, california figs, gorgonzola, prosciutto and parmesan topped with infused rosemary oil (YUM). Lastly we poked around a couple other shops (Twigs was another favorite) and settled on some homemade ice cream at SoCo Creamery. It was a lovely little trip, and only about an hour and a half from Hartford – definitely doing it again!

Put a Scarf on it, Part Deux

Happy Friday, friends! We thought we’d take a quick break from our Friday Links to present to you: Put a Scarf on it, Part Deux. I bought this dress for my birthday, and had so much fun in it I had to break it out again for our holiday party. The high-low hemline was flirty and festive, and paired with my red lipstick, I was ready to roll. As previously posted, we made our way around town in our fancy holiday outfits, scarves in tow. We’re New England girls, we just love our scarves…

*Btw, I just want to give a little shoutout to those Old Navy heels. I usually have issues with heels, and these are extremely comfortable and so affordable!
