How’s everyone feelin’ after the holiday? Full of food and love, we hope! We’ve got another short week ahead of us, and it will officially be 2016, what whatttt? We’re feelin’ excited about this new year, thinking of all of the projects, adventures and fun we’re going to have both in life and on the blog. We’ve also have been reflecting back on this past year, which has been full of posts that we’re very proud of. Reminisce with us for a moment and check out our favorite posts of 2015…
As open-toed shoe season draws near to a close, we can begin to embrace in the beauty of a good oxford. This versatile little staple has stood the test of time, and has quite literally been around for centuries. Let’s get all 18th century chic, shall we?
With St. Patty’s weekend almost in full swing, we realized adding the appropriate amount of green to an outfit can be hard. It’s fun to get a little festive, but green isn’t always the most flattering color. Luckily army green and hunter green are in right now! We’ve put together a few outfits for some very possible St. Patty’s day activities that require a little green, so it won’t look like a Leprechaun attacked you…
Parade // St.Patty’s Day in New England can still be a little chilly, especially when you’re outside all morning watching a parade. But this actually can work in our favor, because our bit of green is in this awesome army green parka. So throw this on after you’ve crafted a cute but comfy outfit to walk around and drink beers in. This tote is big enough to toss the jacket into if you’ve warmed up (liquid jacket anyone?) but make sure to keep it poking out a bit so you don’t get pinched!
Brunch // For the ladies who brunch, it’s all about comfort and ease. These cargo pants and their jazzy little zippers stand out, while the flowy tank will allow lots of leeway for your big Irish breakfast. Sneakers tone down your gold hardware, and a brown oversized cross body will make it easy to steal the extra biscuits from the bread basket.
Drinks // This lacy frock is easy to dress up or down, and perfect for a night of drinking some green beerwith friends (last year we went with green champaign, because we’re classy). You’ll feel slim and sassy in some black skinnies and ankle booties, while staying practical with a light jacket and satchel.
Both Boston & Hartford came up on top in a recent survey of the best dressed men, and we couldn’t agree more! We’re pretty impressed with our stylish cities, and we’re pretty picky. Hartford has great resources for style such as the Hartford Denim Co., creating custom sized jeans made from hardy materials, and Boston has endless boutique options, like Bobby from Boston, which won a spot in Boston Mag’s Best of Boston 2013 Best Men’s Clothing. While we don’t have any specific pictures of Boston or Hartford men, this is the general aesthetic we’re seeing and loving…
When it comes to killer street style, Kim of Eat Sleep Wear knows how to work it. It can be difficult to look cool when you’re freezing your bum off, but back when this girl lived on the East coast, she never failed. Here we tried to recreate this distressed layered look with some easy to find pieces.
NYE is coming fast, and we have no idea what we’re doing! There are so many options, so we’ve put together some outfits to fit your needs…
Bar Hopping // This flirty Zara dress screams NYE! Paired with a fuzzy coat to keep you warm, you’ll have style and sensibility. The hot pink accents will add the right amount of color to your neutral palette, and the pointed metallic pumps will lengthen those stems. Dress// Coat//Purse// Lipstick//Pumps
Black Tie // Fancy NYE parties are becoming more common as we get older, and finding an acceptable dress can be hard. This black gown combines femininity and modernism with lace details, mesh areas and a hidden hemline. It doesn’t need any accessories, it can definitely stand on it’s own – so pop on a bright lip color, stay neutral & vampy with the nails, and dance your butt off. Dress // Lipstick// Nail Polish//Clutch// Heels
House Party // At house parties I like to dress to impress, but need to feel comfortable. These high-waisted skinnies will look sassy, but the billowy blouse tucked into the front tones it down. The rose-gold metallic belt will break up the look, statement earrings add pizzazz for photos, and cut-out flats will let you dance the night away. Blouse// Skinnies // Earrings// Belt //Flats
Lounge // It’s highly possible that I’ll end up spending the night on my couch, and I am just fine with that. This geo-eyelet sweater, some polka dots leggings, and shearling slippers will keep you looking cute while you lounge to the max. Then bake yourself some cupcakes or muffins in this beyond adorable ceramic baking pan, and dim the lights with some amazing smelling candles. Time to be shamelessly lazy. So however you decide to ring in that new year…do it in style!
