Head-to-Toe Summer Beauty Rescues

Happy Monday back, everyone! While we’re definitely having some withdraws from our nice long weekend, we were lucky enough to spend some time outside, and maybe get a little burnt in the process (so bad, I know!!). When the seasons kick in full-throttle like this, it makes us realize how much we need to mix up our beauty routines. We’ve put together a little list to help us out, as this heat and humidity take a toll on us!

We’re finding ourselves pretty stoked on this warmer weather, and in dire need of some pedis after a long winter. Time to bust out those toesies with some fun new looks from some of our favorite places!

Julep Challenge // DIY Pedi

Full disclosure — this feels sort of weird to be flaunting my feet for the world to see. But hey, it is what it is. Anywho, today we’re teaming up with Julep to give you a breakdown of how we keep our toesies looking fine & fresh for summer. A couple of weeks back we picked up the bright and sheer color “madison” and had at it! Check out the steps below for our routine (and more goregous Julep colors here)!

1

01. Get the Goods // You’ll be needing the following — a medium-grit nail file, medium-grit nail buffer, a cuticle pusher, some creamy lotion, a paper towel (or actual towel), and some warm water for soaking. *optional — pumice stone for rough/cracked heals

7 4

02. Shape Nails // Using gentle motions and moving in one direction (this avoids nail-splitting) begin filing to your desired shape.

03. Buff ’em // Grab your buffing block and give your nails a rub down. This reduces your nail ridges and gives the polish a little something to grip onto.

3

04. Soak It Up // Let your feet soak for five minutes in some warm water. If you have any roughness on your heals, this is the time to grab your pumice stone. Move the stone in circular motions to remove buildup.

05. Moisturize // Using about a pea-size amount per foot, use your lotion to soften your cuticles, heals, and smooth dry skin.

8

06. Push it Real Good // Once your cuticles have softened, use the smaller end of your cuticle pusher to clean out any buildup in and around your nails (sorry — gross, I know). Then go around your nails to push back any wonky cuticles (this usually happens to my pinky toes).10

07. Clean Up // Use a dry paper towel (or dap in in nail polish remover) to remove lotion from your nail. This will allow your polish to stick better and chip less.

08. Coat ’em // Apply your first coat, starting in the center of each nail and working your way out. Allow be fully try (not tacky!) then apply your second coat. *Note — working in thinner coats rather than big globs helps in preventing chips.

09. Top Coat // If you’re feeling ambitious, go ahead with a top coat once that second one dries. It’ll give your nails more shine, and hide little chips/bumps that may have happened along the way (that’s our specialty).

10. All Done! // Now put your feet up and watch a movie or read a book while you let those suckers fully dry. I’m also a fan of taking a cold shower to speed up the process — just be careful not to bump them on anything!

Soo those are my feet. Hope you liked ’em!

PS. In case you’re curious, the color on my hands is “clambake” by Essie!

Summer Nail Color Crushes

Now that we’re finally getting a little glow to our skin, we aren’t quite as shy to show off some loud colors. Summer is our favorite time to flaunt those brights we’ve been eyeing, so show your hands some love and get playful with your color choices!

Love Want Need // Clog Sandals & Bright Toes

We’ve become big fans of the clog trend round these parts. A coworker and I were joking the other day about how when we first saw this style around, we couldn’t help but think “orthopedic.” However, in the last couple of months retailers have done a really great job with making this style more trendy and “70s/European,” and less “granny gone wild.” To keep this style fresh, funky, and modern, pair it with a contrasting bright toe polish. This duo would look adorbz with some skinny ankle jeans or a knee-length A-line.

Have you guys been noticing any big trends these days? Fill us in!
