Old Lyme

Two weekends ago we spent some quality time with our old buddies in Old Lyme, Connecticut. Over the last couple of years our paths have taken us all to several different cities across the East Coast, so whenever we can manage big group hangouts, it’s always a blast. This year was nothing short of awesome — complete with lots o’ grilling, games, and goofballs. Take a looksie at some snap shots from our weekend retreat!

Since their prime circa 1940, midis have been making a serious comeback in modern style. Ladies these days are taking this classic dainty look and giving it some sass. They’re baaaaack.. this hippie staple may have been on the back burner for a decade or  two, but the chunky style is making a comeback, and we’re pretty into it. Pair them with a flowy skirt, skinnies, slouchy trousers, or shorts, and you’ll be looking shockingly adorable.

Love Want Need // Clog Sandals & Bright Toes

We’ve become big fans of the clog trend round these parts. A coworker and I were joking the other day about how when we first saw this style around, we couldn’t help but think “orthopedic.” However, in the last couple of months retailers have done a really great job with making this style more trendy and “70s/European,” and less “granny gone wild.” To keep this style fresh, funky, and modern, pair it with a contrasting bright toe polish. This duo would look adorbz with some skinny ankle jeans or a knee-length A-line.

Madewell Spring 2014

As a part-time Madewell employee for the last 2 1/2 years, I figured it was about time I did a little feature on them! This company is truly a great one to work for – not only is it a beautiful brand aesthetically, but the environment is equally charming. Festival Fashion // Round 2

We still have festival fever over here in the North East, dreaming of being able to roam freely between music tents with lemonade in hand and not a care in the world. Feeling inspired from yesterday’s looks, we decided to pick up on some of the major trends we’ve been seeing and piece some outfits together that we hope to soon be wearing.

Tribal Pants // Tribal pants are going to be everywhere at a festival, and for good reason. They’re fun, they’re playful and most importantly, they’re super comfy. We love this flattering wide leg with a slimming fitted tube top. Have some fun by mixing up the print with what else?…how about more print! These leopard sandals mis-match perfectly.

Playful Romper // Rompers are great because they have the ease of dress, but since they’re shorts, you won’t be worried about them flying around in the wind. This oversize floral pattern is eye catching, and festive. Pair it with some bold metallic jewelry, chunky sandals, and pinstripe backpack to really stand out.

Crop Top // Crop tops are a little intimidating when you first see them on the hanger, and with good reason. Anyone who can pull them off with a low-rise bottom is basically a barbie-doll and should be studied in a laboratory. For us average people, these tops actually work very well with a high-wasted flowy skirt, to show just a little skin on the upper rib cage. Keep the outfit light and bright (and the sun out of your eyes) with a wide-brimmed hat, simple sandals, and a statement satchel.
