Love Want Need // Cross Body Bags & Blanket Scarves

Gm_LoveWantNeed_BlanketScarvesAndCrossBodyBags

Blanket scarves are definitely having a moment right now. And why shouldn’t they? I think we can all agree that when we leave the house and it’s in the 30s, feeling like you’re wrapped up in a giant blankie brings a tremendous amount of comfort. The key to not looking like Lenny Kravtiz when you wear this style, is to know your limits. Keep proportions, fabric, and texture in mind. Don’t forget that it is in fact a scarf, you are in public, and not on your couch watching Netflix. To balance it out, pair it with a petite cross-body and skinnies, to keep your frame looking lean and polished.

I’m kind of obsessed with all of these earrings – I had such a hard time picking between these ones and the ones shown!

Loving this graphic tee – it would be super cute for Valentine’s Day! (This way you can be in the spirit without the over saturation of red & pink! Add some lip color to be a little more festive.)

I have such a thing for bangles, especially wood and metallic!

Put a Scarf on It, Part Une

Hey all, and welcome to our first official post of the new year! Hope you all had a splendid couple of days off, and feeling alive and ready to rock 2015’s world.

Two weekends back, Christa threw her annual holiday pot-luck, which we always make a dressy occasion (because, why not?). The day of, we were sort of on a roll. Somehow we had managed to get two post photo-shoots done, the house tidied, and meals started, all before 3:00. At this point we figured hey, we’re getting dressed up anyways, might as well get some outfit shots out of it!

And since no New England winter look is complete without a scarf, here is our tribute.

(By the way, I swear I smile more than this… I was just trying to channel my inner Tyra with my “smeyes.”)

Hallelujah, it’s big chunky scarf season. Pretty much the greatest thing about a brisk day, is the fact that we can walk around with blankets draped around our necks. Cathy from Poor Little It Girl made this cozy look beyond adorable, with some metallic flats and tight black skinnies. We wish we could make the plaid-on-plaid work the way she did, but let’s be real, that’s no easy feat, so we went with a mossy solid pullover.

I’ve been slacking with the fashion posts for a little while now due to the frigid cold. I know I need to start sucking it up to be a good fashion blogger (how do you all do it??), but I mostly feel bad for my boyfriend who’s freezing his butt off while I ask him to take “just one more”. So this week due to the wind, we stayed inside, and it was wonderful! I cozied up with some tea, my warmest scarf and lounged around a bit (chunky socks and all). We’re hoping for some warm weather soon…those bluebird skies have been such a tease recently – it looks way warmer than it actually is!

How to Look Cute in a Polar Vortex

New England is a tricky place. Just when you think things are warming back up a bit, it drops to -4 and you’re forming icicles in your hair. It can be challenging to feel cute in such a scenario, but here are some enlightening ideas to keep you not only toasty, but also adorable.gm_howtolookcuteinapolarvortex

// Find a cute puffy jacket (it’s possible, we swear!) Here are some options: JCrew, BCBG, Michael Kors, Calvin Klein

// Fur lined anything – hat, mittens, hood, scarf…you get the picture

// Chunky/knit everything – socks and hats especially!

// A scarf of any kind, your face will thank you from the bitter winds

// Stylish but practical boots – we’re big fans of LL Bean and Hunter

// Layer up with some normal clothing, because chances are, your office is an average of 70 degrees. Throw a light-weight tee under your wool sweater in case you get too hot

So there you have your typical outfit for the next month and a half.. stay warm out there kids!
