Loft Spring 2015

While it may not be quite warm enough to show this much skin, we can at least browse the web and keep our eyes peeled for spring deals! And that is exactly what happened with Loft. They are in the full spring swing of things over there and we are into it — textures, pastels and leather are the star of the show this season. Plus, they’re having 45% off of everything right now, can’t go wrong with that!

Tomorrow is the OFFICIAL first day of summer friends, how exciting is that! We’ve been experiencing the heat already, but it will feel good to bump it up into summer full time (aka more beach and BBQs). This weekend’s weather looks promising, so before you head out to enjoy it, make sure to check out our Friday links!

cct // Speaking of summer, I guess that means it’s officially bikini season, ugh. I definitely need to fit in some cardio, but I can get down with these exercises for now.

rkv // Eek! I have 23 days until my first 10k ever, and I’m freakin’ a bit. I’m a bit behind on my training, but found these race do’s and don’ts refreshing!

cct // My boss made these amazing sounding cupcakes and I need to try them asap!

rkv // Lately I’ve been loving myself some green goddess dressing— it adds just the right amount of flavor to a dish, while being low in fat (the bad kind, that is). This recipe looks super scrumptious!

cct // We had a photo shoot yesterday (for the new Hartford Prints! website) with Victoria Gloria Photography, and here is a sneak peek – such gorgeous shots! (don’t mind my odd hip pop in the first pic, I don’t think I’m usually that wide??)

rkv // I’m feeling on this technique for beach-wave hair – I think the backcombing is key!

cct // These movies are 10 years old?! Woah…

rkv // I saw this and thought it looked like Christa’s dream snack (*um YES!)

 Have a lovely weekend!

Father’s Day Gift Guide

gm_FathersDay_2014

It’s nearly Dad Day! Time to pick out some of those last minute gifts to show your Pop some love!

01. Heathered Tie // For those 9-5 Dads who are traditional, but wouldn’t mind adding something a little modern to their wardrobe.

02. Beatles vs. Stones Book // Our Dads grew up during the time of two of the most popular bands in history. If your Pop is a music buff and loves to read, this one is perfect for him.

03. ‘Merica Spatula // The Grill Master can’t have too many spatulas, especially when they’re adorned with American Flags! Perfect for the 4th and endless summer BBQs.

04. Dean & Deluca Peppercorn // Good spices are things Dads (and most people) don’t buy for themselves. Splurge on some delicious herbs & spices that he’ll be so happy to have!

05. Enamel Mug // I don’t know about your Dads, but my dad was a big camper. These lightweight mugs were essential to camping, but are making a comeback. Keep Dad in the know with this awesome mug and he’ll be the most stylin’ coffee drinker around the neighborhood!

06. Pink Floyd DVD // Continuing with the music theme, this DVD is a great option for those rainy spring days that New England is oh-so-prone to.

07. Outdoor Thermometer // Dad’s like their home to look nice just as much as Moms. This gorgeous thermometer will come in handy this summer when he looks out the window and decids whether or not to brave the humidity…

Love Want Need // Patio Chair & Cocktail Glass

Gm_LoveWantNeed_Patio

For us, summer time means a whole lot of what we like to call mega porch hang. Coined in the summer of 2013, the verb involves the act of lounging on a porch, patio, lawn, beach, etc, indefinitely. Often associated with hotdogs, cocktails, and sunglasses, mega porch hanging has become a fan favorite amongst millennials alike.

In order to achieve this high-level of lounging properly, one must do so in style. Thank goodness for retailers who help us so greatly with our endeavors!

With the passing of Maya Angelou, so many amazing quotes of hers are surfacing. While we’d only known a few, seeing them all over the internet has brought so much inspiration and joy. This one really resonated with us and we hope it does with you as well!

Have a fantastic weekend (it’s going to be June, woah!), enjoy our links and see you back on Monday! xo G&M

cct // I’m still in total travel mode, and came across this monthly travel guide to Europe – which locations are best to go during which month! I think I just mentally added a few more trips to my list…

rkv // Healthy cocktail recipes!

cct // I am becoming obsessed with all of the pinterest pictures of popsicles! I think I need to buy one of those little kits asap and make these

rkv // 10 Mod Podge home projects

cct // I’m all about painting my nails at home (and infographics), so this image caught my eye. Become an at-home manicurist in no time!

rkv // It’s nearly time to bare those abs (sigh). This little tutorial will get them looking toight!

cct // I had one of those circular princess bed canopies when I was a kid and thought I was awesome. Cut to grown up canopies – because this thing is beautiful and a DIY!

rkv // Have you guys ever tried shakshuka? I had the delightful North African egg breakfast over the winter at a friend’s house and have been dying to make it ever since. This green recipe looks like it would be super tasty with some nice toasty ciabatta.

Cheering Up

It’s only Wednesday and it’s already been one of those weeks…so we’re trying to cheer up and be inspired with some beautiful pictures! Thank goodness for pinterest and the ability to come across thousands of images that really do make you feel better.

And of course it’s a gloomy day today (womp womp), but even if you’re not feeling blue, hopefully these images will help brighten up your day in other ways!

Memorial Day Outfits

With Memorial Day right around the corner we’re getting excited about a nice day off in the sun (fingers crossed for a nice sunny day!). When you’re a kid you spend Memorial Day watching a parade gathering candy (or walking in it, ugh), but when you’re old enough to drink, all you can think about is who is having the BBQ. While we’re mostly still in category 2, there are many options for your upcoming time off – including being active, hitting the beach, or laying low and meeting friends out later.

Here are some outfit options for your day time activity, and day or night casual! Enjoy your day off, but don’t forget what the holiday is here for – remembering those who served for our beautiful country!

gm_MemorialDay_Hangout

Daytime Hang: Memorial Day weekend is when you get a first glimpse of summer! Whether it’s checking out the local parade or heading to a friends for some burgers & dogs – all you want to do is be outside! A light flowy shirt is perfect for the humid New England warmth and a large tote will store a sweater for the chilly evenings. It may not be summer yet, but go with it – everyone else is!

Active Day: Confession – Reg shops the men’s section at H&M for workout tops. They just fit so well, and let’s be real, no one knows they’re for dudes. Throw a pretty sports bra underneath and it looks really cute. This outfit isn’t intended for an all day sweat-a-thon, but it’ll keep you comfortable while doing things like riding bikes, trail hikes, etc. Bright casual sneakers, trendy sweats, a headband for your pesky bangs, and a backpack for a water bottle/camera/snacks is an easy and fresh look for a fun Memorial Day.

Night Out: If you’re using your day off to catch up on sleep or laundry, don’t worry, your Memorial Day is not shot! Meet up with some friends (if they’re not too sleepy from day drinking), and have one last night out before work! Since it’s still a tad chilly in the evenings, this top covers you up but gives you the freedom you want for an “almost summer” blouse. Top it off with a cute wristlet, eye catching jewelry and some fun chunky sandals. You know the weather is getting better when you can show those toesies!

So I don’t know about you guys, but I become a completely different person once things start warming up and I can go outside without a wool item of clothing. It’s like a gear totally switches in my head and all I want to do is frolic and sing. One result of this gear switching is a (semi) regular fitness routine. I’ve mentioned before that I’ve started training for a 10K, and let me tell you, it is a process. I’ve always been much more of a yoga and strength training kind of girl, and cardio sort of makes me feel like I’m dying. It’s only been about a month, but I’ve definitely been making some endurance progress.

I could never do any of this without a solid playlist to keep me going. While I like to have a lot of your usual upbeat songs, I sort of need a little variety in tempo to keep me interested. I can only handle so much loud bass pounding in my ears before I rip my the earbuds out because I feel it mocking my agony. So here is a little playlist to keep you motivated, it has some highs and lows that hopefully you find equally enjoyable!

*PS. I would usually put them in a more fluid order, but Spotify won’t let me do it on my phone – my apologies!

01. shot // alice smith

02. cut it out // kitten

03. g# // kitten

04. all eyes on you // st. lucia

05. the seed (2.0) // the roots

06. waterfalls // tlc

07. wildfire // sbtrkt feat. little dragon

08. queen bitch // david bowie

09. xo // beyonce

Ello! How’s everyone’s week been? Mine somehow became much busier than anticipated,   but that’s not always such a terrible thing, because it flew by. I get to head home to Connecticut tonight so I can spend the weekend with the family for Mother’s Day. Our family tradition for this holiday is to do weeding in the yard for Mom (leave to to my mother to put us through manual labor!), and eat a lot. We’ll be going to our old-time family favorite Italian restaurant for lunch with my Dad, Sister and Brother-in-law on Sunday, so it should be a well-rounded time.

Hope you all have the chance to get out there are appreciate any mother in your lives – have a great weekend everyone!

PS. Christa will finally be back on Monday – yayy!
