Graduation Outfits

No, neither of us are graduating – but you probably know a few cousins, siblings or significant others who are. This upcoming weekend in Rhode Island, Christa’s brother is graduation from Roger Williams with a degree in Architecture (yay!), and she, Curtis, her parents, and both sets of grandparents will be there to celebrate. We’ve already had to deal with the graduation dress fiasco (what to wear??), but realizing that she’ll be in almost as many pictures as the graduate, the question about what to wear has come up again.

The biggest problem is weather. You never know what you’re going to get in New England in the beginning of May. Christa’s graduation was outdoors and POURING rain, while Regina’s was a nice day, but inside. Nick’s will be outdoors under a tent, and we’re keeping our fingers crossed for that the mid 70’s party cloudy forecast that we saw today. We’re breaking down a couple Graduation activity outfits for you — the actual ceremony, the afterparty and Sunday brunch with the fam — but feel free to mix and match if one outfit seems more appropriate for your event. And most importantly, layer up, fuel up (pack extra snacks and water), and sunscreen up if you’re outside, because you’re going to be there for awhile!

1 Item 3 Ways // Hooded Trench

Oh April, why are you so glum? Just a grey, wet, mess of a month you are! There’s pretty much only two things to get us through this limbo, and it’s the prospect of long summer days on the horizon and cute gear to help us through the New England downpours. That’s when the classic trench coat comes in. (*oh, and flowers – we’re cool with April showers if it brings May flowers)

Wait, it is fall, right? Then why have some of these last few days felt like some of the hottest we’ve had all summer? Seems like mother nature may be playing tricks on us, but hey, we don’t hate it. Pretty soon I’m sure it’ll be nice and chilly, and we can all partake it a little apple-fritter and mulled wine action. But until then, I suppose we can just keep rocking those open toed shoes and strappy tanks.

cct // Have you guys ever heard of this at home fragrance testing service? It’s like the Warby Parker at home glasses trial, but with fragrances – sounds so cool!

rkv // So, apparently we’re colonizing Mars. This podcast is sort of amazing and tells you all about it.

cct // Get better posture and stretch it out

rkv // A smokey eye for girls who struggle with smokey eyes

cct // Curtis and I watched 2 great documentaries this week – I Know That Voice & Samm, I definitely recommend both! (and they’re both on Netflix!)

rkv // Yayyy it’s cold out so I can eat oatmeal again! Love the carrot cake idea.

cct // These guys got it right – I would love to spend some serious time traveling across the country like this!

When it comes to killer street style, Kim of Eat Sleep Wear knows how to work it. It can be difficult to look cool when you’re freezing your bum off, but back when this girl lived on the East coast, she never failed. Here we tried to recreate this distressed layered look with some easy to find pieces.
