With all of this warm weather and sunny days, we can’t help but dream about having our feet in the sand while we sit in our cubes. We’re loving ourselves some vintage inspired kaftan-style beach coverups & cutesy embroidered tops to throw on once you’ve had a little too much Vitamin D. And of course no beach day is complete without an easy-to-carry speaker. Seriously, grab yourself one if you don’t have on already, they make all outdoor gatherings that much better!
Summer is officially here, people! We’ve had some ups and downs with the weather, but I think we’re finally feelin the heat. With this summer weather upon us, we’re starting to shape up our summer wardrobe. We’re always looking to other stylish bloggers for their warm weather looks (one of our favorite pinterest boards is our summer style board), and the ladies over at A Piece of Toast know how to style summer heat far better than us (Texas heat is not joke!). We’re all about rocking a good bandana and jean jacket, and this unique layered look is perfect for the indoor/outdoor struggles of the office. Happy copying 🙂
Guys, what is this weather?? This snow is really throwing us for a loop, but we’re still thinking Spring – outfit wise. Keep warm with pastel outerwear, or stay springy underneath your big puffy coat (we’ve moved on to floral and aren’t giving it up!)
Don’t let a little winter weather bum you out – keep wearing what you’re wearing and just bundle up a little tighter for the chilly temps. Rock the floral 70s silhouettes – even with a little snow on the ground.
This outfit right here, might be our uniform. It’s perfect for pretty much any weekend hang, and it would be spot-on for a St. Patrick’s Day parade (which we’re assuming some of you might be attending this weekend). With our unpredictable New England weather, it covers the basics – can you add or take off a layer? do you still have a shape/style/look cute while maintaining correct layers? can you walk for long periods of time in this outfit? Check, check & check! Plus it’s green without screaming green (eek!), no pinches here 😉
While it might not be snowing at the moment (we heard you Punxsutawney Phil — early, rainy spring coming soon…), the dirty and muddy streets are by no means clear of wintery-mix slush. We want to protect our favorite leather booties and suede flats as long as possible, so stylish and functioning winter boots are a must in New England.
Christa received a pair ofSorel Joan of Arcticboots for Christmas and fell in love! And the Sorel boot collection is no joke! We pretty much want a style for every wintery condition.
We thought we’d dress up some winter boots…Hartford & Boston style – out on the town, on the commute, and daytime weekend in the snow – in these multipurpose Sorel Slimboot Lace-Ups.
Blanket scarves are definitely having a moment right now. And why shouldn’t they? I think we can all agree that when we leave the house and it’s in the 30s, feeling like you’re wrapped up in a giant blankie brings a tremendous amount of comfort. The key to not looking like Lenny Kravtiz when you wear this style, is to know your limits. Keep proportions, fabric, and texture in mind. Don’t forget that it is in fact a scarf, you are in public, and not on your couch watching Netflix. To balance it out, pair it with a petite cross-body and skinnies, to keep your frame looking lean and polished.
While we’re very happy to not be returning to school, there is something about the “back to school” shopping buzz that doesn’t really go away! With tax free week a few weeks ago, the stores switching over to their Fall looks, and the weather getting a little cooler (or it was…curse you Sept heat wave!), we want all of the things. The fun part about back to school shopping is that it’s not just clothes, or supplies – it’s both! Agendas, cute staplers and notepads for the office, unique sweaters and trendy flats for Fall, and a great useful bag full of goodies for your everyday look – happy adult back to school shopping to us!
Oh April, why are you so glum? Just a grey, wet, mess of a month you are! There’s pretty much only two things to get us through this limbo, and it’s the prospect of long summer days on the horizon and cute gear to help us through the New England downpours. That’s when theclassic trench coatcomes in. (*oh, and flowers – we’re cool with April showers if it brings May flowers)
Remember last week when we mentioned a mild winter? Well we were just kidding. And to our fellow New Englanders, we apologize for jinxing you. We were hit pretty hard by Juno yesterday in both Boston and Hartford, but we ain’t complainin’ (snow dayyy!). SO all of those retailers with their Spring 2015 lines coming out… slow your roll, okay? Because it’s still chilly and slushy around these parts, and we need some gear to get us through it all. Hail to the chunky sweater and waterproof boot!
If you can’t tell, this season we’re kind of very into neutrals — specifically greys and blacks. It’s just so easy to match them, and when they’re all a great texture, you can look really pulled together. This little number is especially awesome, because it involves stretchy pants and sneakers — two staples for weekend daytime wear. And because these leggings are coated, with a quick change of the shoes you have your Saturday dinner outfit all ready to go. This wool-blend coat will keep you warm from the winter chill, and the beaded-tassel necklace keeps you on trend.
